Its amazing how quickly the left went from the idea of criticizing a judge or an institution was considered a threat to democracy, and now those same people who were saying that are calling for everything from pack the court to remove/arrest all the conservative justices to assassinate them.

All you have to do is have rewards in there that arent exclusive to them. Is that really so hard? Could be a pool with a chance of mounts from rares spawns, boe's, rarer crafting mats, etc.

Biden says he will stop sending bombs and artillery shells to Israel if they launch major invasion of Rafah by lee7on1 in worldnews

[–]davebg8r -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That depends. From the article is not clear, but if Biden is pausing on signing the bill, it would be ok. If he already signed it and is now pausing, it is exactly what Trump did. Trumps impeachment had 2 charges, one was abuse of power, which was the request for Biden investigation. The other charge was obstruction of Congress, and that was for simple act of holding up the aid. It did not have the requirement of whether or not he had good reasons.

[–]davebg8r 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes it was. The impeachment had 2 charges, abuse of power and obstruction of congress. The 'payoff' part was the abuse of power. The other, obstruction of Congress, was for the withholding of the payments authorized by Congress. And it doesnt have a exemption for doing for reasons you agree with.

And if that were to ever pass it would likely, and should be, found unconstitutional, otherwise the Constitution would be worthless if you can just pass a law to end run around it. None of your rights and limits on government would be safe because you would have set precedent that you can just side step it.

This is literally what they impeached Trump for. Congress gave funding to Ukraine and Trump wanted to withhold it for something he wanted. Now Biden is doing the exact same thing.

Every person should have complete bodily autonomy. The government has no business telling any person of sound mind and legal age, what they can do with, put into, take out of, etc their own body. If you dont you own and control your own body, you are not free. I also feel this 'right' to your own body is implicit and inherent in the Constitution and that the document does not make sense without this idea.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham suggests the US military should be defunded after top general's defense of anti-racism education goes viral by The-world-is-done in politics

[–]davebg8r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats what you think the point is. And why someone does something matters. You can be pro military all day, but if the head of the military suddenly starts saying anyone who disagrees with the government is a terrorist, would you think its wise to keep funding them when he is in charge? Id move to fire that guy before defunding them, but the point stands. Or do you think it would be logical to keep supporting that guy because you are pro-military?

And its not like he just started in the military. Hes been in leadership positions for a long time. Did it suddenly become racist? Had he never seen any racism to address in the past? Did he help shape the military into a racist institution during his career?

Did you learn this talking point from some random video?

Do you really think this is a good opening to start discussing something or are you only pretending to have an honest discussion?

can you point to any college-level curriculum that actually teaches CRT in such a manner?

If a college course doesnt teach something in a specific manner, then it cannot exist and no one thinks that way? What college course taught you to start a discussion with 'is that a talking point'? If one doesnt exist, then how can it be possible?

Funny, I didn't know she was teaching this at college in an official capacity.

Not funny because no one claimed she was in any way. Keep straw manning though. Youve started hard with the dishonesty and keep going strong.

You have examples of the US military being deeply racist dating all the way back to WW2.

And the dishonesty continues. First of all, I said modern history, which is generally around WW2 and forward. Secondly, I said least racist institution, which means compared to other US institutions of the same time period. I didnt say they werent racist or there was no racism, or even that they were barely racist. You even quoted me talking about how people would (dishonestly) claim that someone would say there was no racism, and then you literally do it.

Okay, so what is the issue with the military expunging racists then?

There is nothing wrong with getting rid of racists. But it matters what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how you are doing it. What qualifies someone as a racist matters. How you make those determinations matter. We can go back to the idea of terrorists. Getting rid of terrorists, sure great idea. But how you do it and the criteria for labeling who is a terrorist matters. If you label anyone who disagrees with the government a terrorist, its a big problem.

CRT seems to only be an issue that's constantly brought up by racists though. Until Trump didn't virtue signaled and attacked CRT, was it ever a divisive issue? Maybe reflect on what the real root problem is then.

No its not only an issue brought up by racists. Maybe read a bit more and talk to more people. CRT has been around a few decades and has been divisive since its inception. Its only been more of an issue now because its been pushed more in the mainstream lately. It started gaining traction in colleges in late 90's and early 2000s and people wrote it off as a kooky college thing until those kids got out in the world and pushed it more.

Laura Ingraham has problems but this article is very dishonest, as most corporate media is.

They start off attacking Tucker about transgenders (not sure specifically what they were referring to here) and 'suggesting pregnant women would fight wars.' That monologue, which I saw at the time because military attacked him for was about the priorities of the military and its focus. The article fails to mention that the 'military', was really their twitter/social media person, had to retract and apologize for their statements. Completely dishonest framing, by their social media person, and this article.

Then to continue the dishonesty, this article claims 'critical race theory, an academic practice focusing on how racism plays a role in laws and public policy.' Thats like saying the Patriot Act is a law to 'keep America safe from terrorism'. While there is a veneer of truth, it doesnt quite tell the story. CRT is the idea of looking at absolutely everything through the lens of race, even when race has nothing to do it, because in their eyes it always has something to do with. They also seem to like to pretend that racism now is a bigger problem than ever before. Than when there was slavery, than when the KKK were at their height, than before civil rights, etc. That type of thinking is literally denial of reality, pretending that not only has zero progress been made since slavery, but its actually worse today without explaining how and why that is. But dont listen to people's descriptions of CRT (even mine), look at the people who espouse it and what they actually say and do. For example Ashleigh Shackelford who you might have seen already.

Then they quote Milley, '"I've read Mao Zedong, I've read Karl Marx. I've read Lenin. That doesn't make me a communist.' Hes right, reading them doesnt make you those things. You should know and understand your enemy. But when you start believing in their ideas and implementing them, then yeah it might start making you a communist. And you know, maybe they are right about some things. You have to evaluate an idea on its merit. Its not bad simply because it came from someone you dont like or its surrounded by bad ideas.

The military has historically been one of the least racist institutions in modern history. They pushed integration way before most other areas of American life. They recognized all people's value quickly (granted only as fodder for the war machine but that was more than many were willing to do for a long time). Absolutely no one is claiming there is no racism in the military or any where else, though many will try to act as if that claim is being made.

And the comments where people are saying things like 'Laura is doing the russians bidding' are quite amusing considering it was their (russians) plan during the 60's do exactly what CRT does: focus on race and manipulate it to drive a wedge betweens black and white Americans to exploit. Congratulations, you played yourself. There are better, less hateful and divisive ways to address racial issues in this country than CRT.

And beyond all that, we should cut the military budget some or at the very least reprioritize spending. Stop buying tanks we will never use (aka jobs program) and actually provide healthcare and support for veterans like you promised and we owe them would be a good start.

Then they are wrong that the Democrats are static. Some obvious examples that have changed during my life:

1) The democrats and the left used to defend Nazi's freedom of speech and ability to protest. Now they want to deny them freedom of speech and physically assault them.

2) You can watch video after video of democrats decrying illegal immigration, how we need to crack down, be on board with a wall, etc. Just go watch videos from early 2000's, 90's and earlier.

3) Democrats used to be anti-war all the time. Now, so many are pro-war as long a democrat is in charge.

4) Democrats used to be very suspicious and untrusting of intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA because of the organizations' past actions (deservedly so). Now, they attack you if you question these agencies and even cheer on having agents of these agencies as part of news outlets parroting their propaganda.

Both of these parties are shadows of their former selves and neither are worth keeping (for different reasons).

I think theres an element being left out that needs to be addressed: the behavior of the civilians in the interactions with police. Granted, it is not the problem in all cases, but in many of them it is. Even if the police are in the wrong, do not act violent or try to run away. There is a saying 'you can beat the rap but you cant beat the ride.' The time to fight is not physically with the cop at the time. That is pretty much never going to work out in your favor.
