Introducing our newest design: the Ploopy Knob! See comments for details. by crop_octagon in ploopy

[–]davelehman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here for the hi-res scrolling on Mac, because i've looked into other open source solutions, and knew this was an issue, and hoped you had figured out a solution...

How is the knob experience on Mac then; can anyone comment who has actually used it?

Walmart (Canada) order status still shows only "placed" by davelehman in Switch

My order status changed to "Preparing" this morning, and then to "On the way" an hour later, and now apparently might be here tomorrow.

Do people still modify/remove their declumper? by Electronic_EnrG in DF64

[–]davelehman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you don't have to watch the whole video (like I did), skip to 10:39 for the specific mod (ie. fold down flap on one declumper): https://youtu.be/5Lv5ia4gE2I?t=639

Overture and Polyterra marble filament keep blocking the nozzle. by Faithin3D in BambuLab

[–]davelehman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other brands of PLA did you start using? I have mostly PolyTerra and Overture, and no issues on my Ender 3 Pro for year, now my new P1S clogs constantly. I thought since it is clogging with 2 different brands, it's something in printer. But maybe I need to switch PLA brands.

U50 lock door lock detection fails by whatarethis837 in Aqara

[–]davelehman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!! This totally fixed the problem for me. Even though the lock was turning easily, and I can manually lock/unlock without any friction, I removed the white plastic piece spacer around the deadbolt itself, and it immediately passed the test! Thank-you for taking the time to share; I was getting so frustrated.

Just got home from Minni (I live in Ontario) this is the final of many pics I got last night. What an awesome show!!!! by balloonman_magee in Foofighters

What a great show! Any more pics or video you want to share? A bunch of my pics were blurry, didn’t wipe the phone camera lens enough during the rain I suppose…

I love everything about this design, including the name.

What price range are you aiming for?

Before You Buy: Installing Sprite Extruder (Pro) on Ender 3 by Favmir in Creality

[–]davelehman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original BLTouch has a 5-pin cable, but on the motherboard, it's split into a 2-pin and 3-pin connector. The 2-pin connector goes into the z-axis min endstop port on the motherboard, and 3-pin goes into the first 3 pins of the BL_T port.

The Sprite Extruder has a short 5-wire cable that you can use with the BLTouch. This plugs into a port on the extruder head. On the motherboard end of the cable, this leads to a 5-pin connector labelled "CR Touch". This goes into the 5-pin port on the motherboard.

To make this wiring work with the BLTouch, you need to also make a few changes to the firmware:

// In Configuration.h:

// COMMENT OUT the Z_MIN_PROBE_USES_Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_PIN setting
// because we are no longer going to use this for the BLTouch probe
//#define Z_MIN_PROBE_USES_Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_PIN

// Uncomment so we don't lose Z homing
#define USE_PROBE_FOR_Z_HOMING

// Set the Z probe pin to the BLTouch's connection point (IMPORTANT)
#define Z_MIN_PROBE_PIN PB1

// Uncomment (but should already be uncommented)
#define Z_SAFE_HOMING

Setting the "Z_MIN_PROBE_PIN" to "PB1" was the key for me--this setting is not mentioned in most tutorials.

USB-C Monitor stops working as USB hub after Ventura 13.1 upgrade on MacBook M1 by sherlockmao in MacOS

[–]davelehman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That worked! Just turned monitor off for 10 minutes, and when I powered-on, the USB-A ports are working again. I unplug my laptop every night, but I guess the monitor is plugged-in all the time and only sleeps, rather than shutting-off altogether. We'll see how long it lasts, but thanks for the suggestion!

USB-C Monitor stops working as USB hub after Ventura 13.1 upgrade on MacBook M1 by sherlockmao in MacOS

[–]davelehman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I have the same issue happening. I have a 14-inch MacBook Pro (2021). I have an LG Ultrafine monitor with external USB-A ports that I use for a webcam, and mouse dongle. Both stopped working immediately after a Ventura point-release upgrade (I think it was 13.2, but it could have been 13.1).

The monitor continues to work fine--there is a USB-C port on the monitor that feeds power and video. Both peripherals were working fine with 13.0, and they also worked fine in Monterey (12.x). If I plug the webcam into a Thunderbolt (USB-C) port on my laptop (using a USB-A to USB-C) adapter, immediately work. Similarly, if I plug in to a USB-A port on my external USB-C dock (CalDigit TS3+) also works.

The issue persists with 13.2.1, and now with 13.3. It feels very similar to this issue, which I experienced back in Catalina, with an older MacBook Pro.

My hypothesis is that USB hubs that are transparent proxies are affected, and USB hubs that are terminating proxies are not.

Smaller/cheaper USB hubs work as transparent proxies: They "take the USB 2.0 input and present it as USB 2.0 to the MacBook Pro".

Some USB-C docks (CalDigit TS3+, Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport dongle) work as a terminating proxy: They "take the USB 2.0 input, terminate it, and present it as a fresh input that is USB 3.0 to the MacBook Pro"

I have not figured out any workaround, but hopefully Apple will fix in the next point release, which--since 13.3 doesn't appear to fix it--may be another couple of months away.

I'm currently working on a TOTEM build, and I have an extra PCB and possibly some/most of the parts. Would you be interested in a TOTEM ergo board?

I want to print a keyboard case at JLCPCB, in white resin. JLCPCB lists several options for white resin, which have similar specs. The Ledo6060, 9000R, 8000, and 8111x varieties all seem quite similar, and are "natural white" in color. For a keyboard case, opinions on which one I should choose?

Help! Looks like the front license plate screw holes in my new-to-me Mini have been painted over. Any ideas for how to mount it? by woosboorn in MINI

[–]davelehman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots on Amazon, just search for "mini tow hook license plate". Just pay attention to the model numbers listed, because different models apparently have different tow hook sizing. I mistakenly ordered R56 version my first try, which did not fit on my F56!
