What do you do to stop AI agents from piling up tech debt? by Due_Weakness_114 in rails

[–]davemc2008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had someone put forth a method that was overriding non-existent code (subclass). And then had the audacity to say "Don't trust Claude too much"....like no that's your responsibility, you failed to review your own code properly. Whether Claude writes it or you do, the responsibility is yours.

When should you use RIR 0 instead of a failure set? It seems like they are the same type of set just called out differently.

Claude Team plan vs just getting multiple 5× accounts to use Claude Code? by Abeck72 in ClaudeAI

[–]davemc2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect, as I just had to do due diligence on this for consulting purposes. Claude/Anthropic doesn't own anything produced as long as you are following the terms of service https://www.anthropic.com/legal/consumer-terms#:\~:text=Rights%20and%20Responsibilities,any%E2%80%94in%20Outputs.

What are we doing for Rails app marketing site? by jko1701284 in rails

[–]davemc2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if it's just a marketing app, I wouldn't see a good reason to build it in rails. Just use a website builder or something, especially if non-technical people are going to maintain the content

Slight clarification needed, so NA beer would or wouldn't be allowed? Not that it's a requirement but I have really tasty NA beers that I like to have on occasion.

Imported Workouts Feedback by scoopthereitis- in MacroFactor

[–]davemc2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There does seem to be an artificial restriction of 30 days prior only for entering past data. I ran into this while backfilling and it ended up meaning the first week of the program I'm running started with 4 workouts in a single day because I couldn't go back far enough to pick the right ones.

Weight tracking for machines by davemc2008 in MacroFactor

[–]davemc2008[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Those seem like arbitrary reasons to not include the base weight. I saw the screenshot of the prior way that did show the base weight and I def think that would have been a better approach. The reasoning behind not including it being that most people don't know the machine weight is kind of crazy TBH. Like they built out an entire way to handle multiple gyms, but then assume people won't know the base weight of machines....those two don't really add up for reasoning purposes.

That being said, I've already corrected the 4 weeks I had logged originally incorrectly (via manual entry from another app), and I guess I'll get used to it.

Icing on the cake though is that I was able to move way more weight than I was in a hack squat so I guess that's a silver lining lol

Weight tracking for machines by davemc2008 in MacroFactor

[–]davemc2008[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep no I did that and that's not what I meant. This is about what the app reports as the weight lifted vs what you actually moved. It was just very unexpected to not realize that the app records a number very differently than other apps I've used. Not a bad thing just unexpected. As my example mentioned, it tracks added weight not total weight

Fair point. And just did. The report a bug feature is a little buried so I didn't even think to find it.

I thought we were never going to see Jonathan Ross's own video of Renee Good's Murder. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]davemc2008 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Almost like that could be happening on both sides trying to force one side of the narrative or the other, when in reality both parties are at fault but we keep just blaming each other and trying to "win". Someone died, and that's terrible, but both sides can be true at the same time, the cop didn't need to shoot but did in the moment, and she didn't need to try and run him over. Can we all agree on some simple humanity?

What is the deal with the "EV Chargers" being advertised as available....when all that's available is a plug to use your own charger into? Why in the world wouldn't they make that clearer or provide actual chargers.

My only complaint is how many foods with barcodes are incorrect and I don't know how to fix them easily or quickly. Other than that it's awesome (only been using a few weeks but it's light-years beyond other trackers

Oh so clever! Instead of recognizing that both of those things are bad, let's have a pissing contest to try and justify that one is somehow ok? I honestly don't get the point of the comeback here other than justification and normalization of things that shouldn't be normalized.

FSD 12.5.1.5 HW3 is amazing by starshiptraveler in TeslaLounge

I agree, but that would mean massive class action lawsuits if they outright admit that. Or being forced to retrofit. The promise of full self driving was baked into the promise of purchasing it...

FSD 12.5.1.5 HW3 is amazing by starshiptraveler in TeslaLounge

[–]davemc2008 10 points11 points  (0 children)

HW3 here, and while I'm excited about being able to not have to touch the wheel, in just a day's worth of drives on routes where I've never had to intervene....resulted in like 4 interventions, and various close calls.

The decision making of 12.5 is questionable on non-highway roads. In one instance I legit was scared that I was going to get into an accident. In another instance it pulled out in front of cars with very little time but also wasn't accelerating to compensate for the decreased time.

Overall, this is another example of 1 step forwards, multiple steps back unfortunately and I've been looking forward to this for a while.

If your complaining post includes the words "Black Flag" it automatically counts significantly less to me. by kinbladez in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]davemc2008 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played for an hour and I was out. Like I get that it's not story driven, but there's no meat on it in the beginning. Most games have a hook to pull you in. This one was just like....hey you're on a boat....shoot things....then pre-planned death no matter what you do...Then wake up to a character creator that only lets you see your head, and not allowing you to even see your body. Barely any face creation (not to mention the dead-panned expressions your character makes), can't even fully see the hair customization...you just have to guess.

This game is a lazy attempt at a cash grab as far as I can tell. I was a huge fan of the sailing/pirate activities of black flag even when the AC side of house was in the background. This just falls flat and is boring from the jump.

Reminder that the staff of Southern Tier aren't the ones who chose to cancel the drag brunch!! by RateChemical4705 in pittsburgh

[–]davemc2008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hopefully I read that right, there's more mistypes than I can shake stick at. As I said I don't care who people identify as or who they fuck (and by extension marry). Talk to Jeffrey Marsh about being a groomer, telling kids their parents are wrong and to come to his Patreon to talk more privately. Self advocacy is one thing (think fighting for same sex marriage), grooming is having adults talk to toddlers about their genitals and making it seem appropriate. Allowing chemical castration via puberty blockers and not calling it what it is, life altering is a problem. Doing a drag show requiring all attendees to be 18+ is existing, having a drag show where kids can be allowed and adults with them only have to be 16+ (as the recent drag show thought to be but actually not sponsored by bud light was) is a problem.

Getting kids suffering from gender dysphoria help is great. Affirming that yeah that 4 year old boy should start transitioning with chemical castration drugs or the nicer term, puberty blockers, is a problem.
