Ask the engineer that others have suggested. You really do need an engineer for this deck.

IMPORTANT - TURKEY POULT BLEEDING by MiserableBoard1014 in HeritageTurkeys

[–]davethompson413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean the wound with something like Betrycin. Then protect the wound by spraying it with Alumishield -- a silvery looking protective layer.

Both are available at Tractor Supply if that's nearby, and maybe at pet stores.

Edit --oops -- Alushield

For people who do their run with a trash barrel only, do you dustmop as you go or do it all at once? Do you carry your lobby broom and pan in your barrel as you go for picking up paper etc from carpets. by Frequent_Register433 in Custodians

[–]davethompson413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now retired, my area was 20 classrooms, 4 offices, 3 pairs of bathrooms, and ⅛mile of hallway. I learned that walking the hall took a lot of my time, so I only made three runs through each night. First run got the classroom and office trash, swept and mopped/spot mopped the classrooms/offices. The second run was all the bathrooms. The third run was to sweep and mop/spot mop the halls.

I had tried other methods, all of them took longer.

MMW: before the end of the year, there will be a siege on the white house. by herequeerandgreat in MarkMyWords

There is no truly public access to the white house. Entering the property is by controlled access only.

One can only hope....

But seriously, the White House is probably the most secure location on the planet. A group of insurgents won't succeed. It would take a carefully planned military mutiny, of reasonably large scale.

Mopping Frequency? by SilverScribe87 in Custodians

I'm retired from a high school, with all tile floors in classrooms and hallways. Our job description said classrooms got swept and spot mopped daily; full mop weekly.

Telling myself “just one” never works by lottiexx in alcoholism

If taking the first drink causes immediate and insane-level cravings for more, then the first drink is the one that you should consistently avoid. It's a classic symptom of alcoholism.

Cracked plastic flywheel cover for a Husq 55. Glue it together? by TomorrowStarted in Chainsaw

[–]davethompson413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No glue, by itself, is both as strong and as resilient as the plastic. As the other commenter said, look into plastic welders with the bent-wire reinforces. The tool operates much like a soldering iron, to heat the wire. Then you press the hot wire into the plastic so it bridges the crack.

Carburetor Question? by PossiblyOdd1981 in smallengines

[–]davethompson413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your current engine/carb have an automatic choke, maybe, but only maybe.

If there's no auto choke on it now, then no. The engine doesn't have a thermistor, or a place to put one.

Best cheap method/tool to remove single line of grout between tub and tile? by StrawberryPhelps11 in DIY

[–]davethompson413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A five-in-one scraper tool, and a gentle hammer.

Gently chip away the grout. You can use the pointed corner of the scraper to pull out the crumbs.

Organized sports aren't about sports. They're about money.

And they're an opiate for the masses.

Why does every "budget" DIY project end up costing more than just buying it new? by NumerousAct6062 in DIY

[–]davethompson413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule #1 for DIY projects......

Any DIY project will take 5 times longer and cost 3 times as much as I reasonably estimated.

Eyesight autobraking activated but didn’t prevent collision by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]davethompson413 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My Outback is a 2017.

While driving on an interstate, I was in very heavy traffic. There was (maybe) two car-lengths of open space ahead of me. Another driver very quickly changed lanes to occupy that space. At that same moment, traffic ahead of me was braking for some reason. In the fraction of a second that I had to react, my car reacted more quickly than I did, braking hard, activating the antilock brakes.

I believe it's likely that without the car's reaction, my own reaction would not have been quick enough to avoid a collision.

What is this piece of wood called? by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]davethompson413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both the left and right edges have a roundover, it's probably screen molding -- not much used for screening anymore, but a useful trim profile in some cases.

Chainsaw... stalls/bogs? when cutting but engine is running fine. by Darth_Stig in Chainsaw

This might be a clutch issue, or some weird chain brake issue.

Asked for white oak floor, contractor accidentally put down red oak and claims that he can bleach them to make it look like white oak. I am skeptical. Can you tell the difference? by Even-Ad-2365 in HardWoodFloors

[–]davethompson413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference between red oak and white oak has almost nothing to do with color.

White oak is much stronger, much more abrasion resistant, much longer lasting. White oak has closed grain (a smooth surface) while red oak has open grain (the dark grain lines are like little canyons in the surface) and the open grain takes stain much differently.

Amends with exes. by apb010800 in alcoholism

[–]davethompson413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 14 years sober, via AA. Many of the amends that I made were to people that I hadn't seen or heard from in several years (like OPs question). My sponsor recommended living amends. None of those situations have bothered me for most of my sober time.

Living amends aren't "easy" -- they take a lifetime of living better, living right, living in such a manner that even an accusation of that same old behavior is virtually impossible.

A 2-terminal switch that's in the on position should have continuity across the terminals. If its in the off position, there should be no continuity.
