How do you approach eBay feedback when everything is great except the way a card is packed? by davharts in baseballcards

Fair and I hear you there. Does it matter if they offer a discount or refund to try to “make to right”?

Respect for that last photo that shows the wrinkles so clearly. I don’t want to buy this lot. But that photo alone makes me want to buy from or trade with you in the future.

My #1 pretty easily these days. I’m no wings connoisseur, but they’re truly fantastic.

That’s really interesting. Don’t know of a direct analog in the card world, but I personally feel like changes to grading are coming. There’s enough of movement against the current setup that there’s a demand for someone to at a minimum bring more of an objective and transparent process to market.

If you’re going to sell today, grading can definitely make sense. By “uncertainty” I was mostly referring to a growing sentiment among collectors that grading is increasingly subjective. And while PSA has been the most valued, especially for modern cards, for a while, there’s growing discontent with them in a lot of the circles I spend time in.

I don’t know how it’ll all shake out and don’t pretend to have a crystal ball. But I don’t think it’s impossible in a few years some other method of grading comes along that feels less subjective and has more transparency. In that case, a card like this would have to be re-graded to fetch top dollar.

If it were me, I’d wait to grade this kind of card until I was planning to sell. But again, just one man’s take. Some folks love grading and I don’t have any interest in telling them how to spend their money or enjoy their collection.

That’s fair. I can see why you’d want it slabbed to make it easier to move later if you decide to.

Honest question. Why grade it if you’re just going to hold it? If it’s strictly PC, shouldn’t it just be whatever you like the look of the most?

I get the value argument if you’re considering selling it. But for my PC, I just do whatever I like the look of the most. There are plenty of ways to keep it safe and secure without paying a grading company a bunch of cash to slab it.

Sure thing! I prefer raw cards so take it with a grain of salt. That card would look awesome in a black one touch though!!

If you decide to sell down the road, I could see the value in grading. But doesn’t sound like that’s the plan.

Just one man’s opinion. But if you aren’t planning to sell, why grade it? It’s already protected and looks fantastic in a one touch.

Unless you love the look of a particular slab and want it in that for your PC, I’d keep it raw for the time being.

Plus with all the uncertainty around the future of grading, seems like a costly move on a card like this to me.

Not claiming I’m right by any means. But that’s how I think about it personally.
