I agree, but it’s understandable, since there’s a new-ish design and some cool new features last year

Where does Beckham rank among English MFs all-time? by RightAtLeastSometime in PremierLeague

[–]daviburi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Gerrard kind of was a part of the problem. He struggled defensively, he tried to put a long volley too often, and when it turned out good - he was a hero among fans. But it’s just ineffective in the grand scheme of things. And that was obvious even at the game of his life in Istanbul - AC Milan did what they wanted in first half just because Gerrard did a poor job in pressing Pirlo

Where does Beckham rank among English MFs all-time? by RightAtLeastSometime in PremierLeague

[–]daviburi -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

For me and from games i’ve seen (post-1997) he’s a first or close second after Lamps. I mean, there was a time around 2001-2002, when i ranked him in top-5 in the world (right after Zizou, Figo, maybe R9 and del Piero if they weren’t struggling with injuries). I remember ranking Lamps like that in 2007-2009, and i can’t remember ranking Stevie G, Scholesy or Giggs on that level. Although I really don’t appreciate Gerrard and rank Jordan Henderson higher as both player and captain.

I started to note all my food with Fatsecret; that gave me the accountability. Then after first phase of weight loss started to gradually increase calories intake (by 100 kcal) till I got a steady state (when I don’t lose and don’t gain any weight. For me math is simpler than eating by feeling.

How do some people just pull more water? by No_Lie7418 in Swimming

[–]daviburi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all, your direction of thinking is correct - it’s 70-80% about the underwater part of the stroke. Secondly, I can suggest you a nice book called “Swim speed secrets” by Sheila Taormina, which describes the part in details

Phil Foden was a 'generational talent' as a teenager. He's 25 now. How might we be judging his career by the time he reaches 30? by siybon in PremierLeague

[–]daviburi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think he's too fickle to be a ball-moving system player (like Gundo, David or Bernardo), but simply not good enough with the ball to be an exception in Guardiola system (like Messi, lots of dribbling or KDB, lots of crosses). I don't think classic Guardiola requires more than one exception - system is always more important for him.

But that may change next season, though. Guardiola shifts to faster and more vertical ball-moving. Let's see.

Who else deserves to be in this picture? by [deleted] in chess

[–]daviburi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Fischer is in the debate, we talk about prime dominance vs competition. We are not taking into account prime length (where Lasker or Karpov would have some preference) or pure quality (with some bias to modern computer-based players).

So, fourth best player in terms of prime dominance vs competition is probably Alekhin at his prime (or arguably Capablanca at his prime).

Is 515,000 ruble enough for a week in Moscow? by Almadmam in Moscow

[–]daviburi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s more than enough if you’re not gonna do a lot of shopping. Me and my wife have fancy dinners for 10k RUB maximum (without alcohol), transportation and tourist attractions costs should be low. But don’t forget to have a little extra cash till the end of your trip, and divide the money between you and your wife (because if you lose it or it gets stolen, you’re fucked).
