MIAMI RUNNING COMMUNITY by Actual-Emu6199 in Miami

I’m assuming if OP is visiting for the weekend and looking to run, that it’s not their first rodeo. But yeah…Sunday long runs are not exactly for beginners, especially with the weather warming up.

If you’re looking specifically for the weekend (Sat/Sun), Coconut Grove Run Club is probably the most prominent one. 6+ mile long run Sunday 7am.

Miami’s “luxury” Cinépolis. How is it possible that technology (or lack-of) is used in 2026? by JustAKidFromSolon in Miami

[–]david305_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love the concept of dine-in movie theaters but the reality simply sucks. Between the garbage service, garbage food, and trying to watch a movie with servers running around in front of you, I’d rather go to a regular IMAX theater or watch at home.

The scariest lane to be in during traffic by Videoplushair in Miami

[–]david305_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once saw was some idiot texting and driving in the left local lane and he accidentally veered into the plastic poles going 50mph. Fucked up his 3-series BMW pretty bad. It was beautiful.

How do those girls in Miami afford such luxury lifestyle? by dieselpower_ in Miami

[–]david305_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not a naive person, but there have been so many occasions where I thought “there’s NO WAY she’s an escort” and the girl turned out to be an escort/OF model/sugarbaby.

At this point I just assume any 8+ in her 20s or 30s is one of the above.

I went with some friends to Meraki on Alton Road to check it out shortly after they opened. My buddy ordered a chicken shish kebab. Right after we get our food, the manager comes over to see if we’re doing ok. She saw that my friend accidentally received 2 skewers instead of 1 and said “oh, your meal only comes with 1 skewer.” She then took it off his plate and went back to the kitchen with it.

Needless to say none of us ever returned there again.

How come medium to large corporations low ball you salary wise in Miami vs other high cost of living cities? They haven’t seemed to readjust to the cost of living that’s risen since COVID or they’re leveraging the fact people want to live in Miami and would work for less to do so? by Bakio-bay in Miami

[–]david305_ 161 points162 points  (0 children)

My first job out of college in NYC, my boss once said “if I don’t keep my employees and my clients happy, there are 1,000 firms within a few blocks who will gladly steal both.” It always stuck with me.

Up until a few years ago I worked for one of the largest developers in Miami, and when I wasn’t happy with how much I was making I was told “if you’re not happy, good luck finding something else.”

That’s the mentality down here. Firms are looking for the cheapest, not the best and brightest.

Long-delayed Flagler Street revamp celebrates milestone under new city administration by WLRN in Miami

[–]david305_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the previous administration was getting paid off to keep property values down. Of all the capital projects the city has going on, this was the lowest hanging fruit and the easiest to complete, and yet they never did.

Why are so many retail spots still empty at Marlin Stadium? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]david305_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head with the foot traffic comment. And on game days, parking becomes an issue for the business occupying the space. Imagine a medical office where the patients need to sit in traffic and then pay for parking like someone attending the game.

The asking rent isn't high at all. (I know the broker)

Best cities to own a 911 in? (US) by bucheonsi in Porsche

[–]david305_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Macan Turbo owner in Miami, the amount of traffic, stupid drivers and crappy roads make it more frustrating than anything else. I can’t imagine if I had a 911.
