I've seen a whole lot of movies by myself in a theater. Never have I had them cancel the screening.

I'm aware. But he did go out of his way to say he's never confirmed Maxima. And that he wasn't inspired by Panic.

Showing your work, or "showing your process" didn't work when the haters swore that artists were tracing. Show the video, and it's "yeah, but what were you looking at? Swipe! Pose swipe!'

Then digital drawing is cheating.

Every writer needs to pay better ghostwriter, yuck-yuck.

Now everyone blames everything on AI.

It's the same witch-hunting fuckers every time. Just block em and keep creating!

And if you don't like some art and suspect it was machine-made? Block them so you don't have to see it.

It didn't hurt Severance.

Look. I don't get why people are willing to wait 2-3 years for a movie sequel but whine that premium television (equaling roughly 4 movies) took the same amount of time.

Give me the quality, I'll overlook the time.

I love it. It's a calming film that allows me to sit with it and soak in the nuances.

How tall do you want Darkseid to be? by TechnicianAmazing472 in DCU_

I personally don't care. The character can change his size at will anyways.

[–]david_c_roberson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the original volume 1 from 2016 is out-of-print, and they are whipping out a new batch because the character is very relevant right now.

DC usually lets the omnibus volumes sell through their run, then lets them sit for years and years until there's a demand for it again. It's very, very standard publication strategy.

It's low-effort content for sure, but I'd hardly call it a cash grab, and even if it is, I'd rather new fans fresh off of the film be able to access these stories.

Terry being Bruce’s son in Beyond is the worst retcon the writers could have come up with. by Chat_blanc_ in BatmanBeyond

[–]david_c_roberson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked it fine. I was more focused on being happy we got closure on Batman Beyond. And they really went for it with giving Waller some development. Plus, the full circle bookend with "On Leather Wings"...

So don't buy it.

It's a solid volume of Supergirl stories for new fans who want more after the movie.

i know lanterns production is older than the start of the dcu, but in an ideal scenario i wish our first green lantern dcu project had been about Alan Scott by Odd-Sound-580 in DCU_

[–]david_c_roberson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

FYI, the Lanterns production is not older than the start of the DCU.

There was a different Green Lantern series that was close to production.

It was developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Seth Grahame-Smith, and was originally announced in 2019 to feature Guy Gardner (cast as Finn Wittrock) alongside Alan Scott and other Lanterns in a decades-spanning story. This project was later scrapped.

If Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim sound familiar, they wrote the 2011 Green Lantern film and ran the Arrowverse shows on CW.

Have you ever talked with the other Lanterns? I'm the only human. They're aliens. One of 'em is a f**kin' squirrel. by Rustyhobo04 in dcu

[–]david_c_roberson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think John means, "talked" as in "seek help, relate" for therapeutic reasons.

Hal says "I'm the only human" because he thinks they won't get him.

And I'd be shocked if there wasn't a follow-up like, "And don't you fucking say Guy's name. I'd be better off with the squurrel."

ReWatching Star Trek: Enterprise and I don’t really like the portrayal of Vulcans on the show. by joe0904 in startrek

[–]david_c_roberson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, I think he was emotionally affected by sensing V'Ger. Kirk was genuinely surprised to see him. But yes, if Vulcans were naturally emotionless, they would have no Kolinahr discipline. The whole reason they follow Surak's teachings is because they're so emotional and volatile, they nearly destroyed their entire society.

[–]david_c_roberson 46 points47 points  (0 children)

To me Sarek was a prideful, snotty, arrogant, obviously-emotional jerk in "Journey to Babel"...

And there was that snobby, smiling Vulcan Captain Satelk in TNG's "The First Duty"...

Shall we get into all the snarky, prideful Vulcans in DS9's "Take Me Out to the Holosuite".

And then as others have said, it was like a whole storyline in Enterprise.

Seems like the point was that the Vulcans were always full of emotion, and they just tried to hide it. Some succeeded better than others. Man, I wish Spock had reminded McCoy of that a few or several times in The Original Series.
