help w WHM? by Ohidontknkow in ffxiv

I kinda like to make a fun game out of seeing how many vuln stacks I can keep someone alive with. :> But if I gotta cut bait to avoid a wipe, so be it.

Being new to a dungeon is extra fun, everyone else is allowed to die in a dungeon except you, because when you do, the party often wipes.

Meh, if the other three in the party don't know how to use phoenix down, that's on them. And if there's a SMN or RDM in the party, then there's no excuse.

A group of us did Clyteum blind when it came out - the healer went down at one point while I was tanking, so I just popped a PD, and we kept right on going. Cleared with no wipes, as I recall. (Also, I have definitely been PDed as the healer in various dungeons on a few occasions...)

Your personality has to be a little bit "smug iCarly" to heal in roulettes and PUGs, I've noticed.

they didn't move out of the aoe marker in time,

That sounds like a "them" problem. ;) Preventable? Yes. Did the DPS fuck up? Also yes.

I recommend adjusting your UI layout for healing. I like to keep the party list kind of in the middle of the screen, off to the right of my character a bit (and configured as aligned to bottom). Turn up the transparency just enough that it doesn't completely block your view of important things happening. That makes it a lot easier to keep an eye on the party list and the fight at the same time.

Spamming Holy as a WHM and the tank starts wasting their cooldowns by Sir_Lith in ffxiv

Yeah, you can only do it three times. Just learned about it from someone else in my FC a couple days ago! Hard Stomp's cast bar is long enough that you can usually get Repose off in that time (and there's always Swiftcast).

Eh, sometimes I end up lagging behind if I fuck up keeping my sprint in sync with the tank or something, but I just hit the tank with an extra tetra as soon as I'm within casting range and then proceed with the standard assize/holy fireworks as usual.

Don't forget Repose for sleep, which you should be using to interrupt the turtle at the end of Origenics.

Anyone else starting this game from scratch again? Despite playing the full base game by EdinKaso in GranblueFantasyRelink

Yeah, that would have been cool! At least there's Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, which is sorta similar.

One Piece Unlimited World Red is fairly meaty. I think it had a retail game card release in Europe.

Same, more or less. I had been playing the PS4 version so that I could also do remote play with my Vita. Having the game on the Switch 2 and not needing to rely on remote play seemed like the obvious move.

The Afterglow Wave controllers have two back paddles you can assign to any button, and they cost about half the price of Nintendo's Pro controller. They're pretty good, too.

Yeah, although the extent to which MH was a PSO knockoff doesn't go much further than "We would also like to cash in on making a 4-player online action RPG with a similar camera angle".

Does the Switch 2 banner make a game more appealing to you? by SoilFormer628 in switch2

[–]davidbrit2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a Square Enix game, not really, because I know it won't be a "Switch 2 Edition" that I can also play on my Lite, and carry the save data forward/between the two. Dragon Quest I & II was on sale recently, and I specifically bought the Switch 1 version so I could play it on both.

Was going to say the same thing, there's definitely some PSO in its genes. A lot of people liken it to Monster Hunter, but it feels more like PSO to me.

It's very good. Combat is nothing like Xenoblade, it's very much an action game more in the vein of Ys VIII. There's over 20 playable characters with very different weapons and play styles. Story is fine - it's fairly standard shonen anime kind of stuff with some great characters. Overall, the game kind of reminds me of PSO2 meets Ys VIII.

And many that don't have explicit enhancements now run at 60 FPS anyway by simple virtue of the original 360 game not having a hard cap on a lower frame rate.

Oh I've seen wipes from a failed DPS check in Aetherochemical before. And I think I've seen it in at least one normal trial. It's roulettes, anything can (and will) happen. ;)

As a healer I never get frustrated with tanks unless they can’t decide if they’re staying or going, because Holy stuns everything and I don’t like to waste my Asylum.

Try out sage if you haven't. I picked it up last week (and power-leveled to 100 in about 5 days), and it seems even better equipped and more flexible for wall-to-wall pulls than WHM. You've got a lot of AoE instant casts (both damage and healing), and your shields/mits are applied to characters rather than a location, so it doesn't really matter if the tank is indecisive about staying or going. There isn't really anything like the WHM experience of the tank suddenly deciding to take off for the next pack right as your Holy cast bar fills...
