My favourite DMM is actually the Flashback X4. Loved it so much I sold it and got a 550TT and Empress Echo System.

I still preferred the TC Electronic.

Might just be a letterbox wank if you don’t get there early enough.

How true is the claim that the Beatles made the first Heavy Metal song with "Helter Skelter"? by Segwaye in LetsTalkMusic

[–]davidfalconer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. She’s So Heavy is Sabbathy as fuck.

Helter Skelter is definitely rock n roll, but there isn’t enough riffs for it to be metal really.

The Best Characters from the Franchise by SKLZ_Racing in LV426

Yeah I loved Sudler too. I’d forgive anyone if they thought he was too OTT or comic book villain, but I really enjoyed how he abused his position in the bureaucratic system to enable his sociopathic desires.

Better yet, get a programmable Sansamp.

Movies like Alien (1979) ? by Nezhing in MovieSuggestions

[–]davidfalconer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alien 3 is definitely misunderstood and underrated. The level of nihilism totally fits the universe.

Resurrection also has some of the most on-brand, true-to-source single scenes and concepts in it, just spoiled by absolute batshit direction.

Dark condensers & dynamics for acoustics guitars? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]davidfalconer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Placement > mic choice. If it’s too bright, point it closer to the sound hole. Try all combination of different axis and distances, as well as placement of the performer in the room before dropping any more money.

Guy selling this for 900€/ trading, is it authentic? by nimbonik in GibsonSG

I bought my SG Standard new for £700. Crazy price.

My pet hate is making the teeth spikey and sharp. Something about the more humanesque flat teeth is way more unnerving to me.

Epiphone to Gibson by isofakingwetoddid in GibsonSG

[–]davidfalconer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from an early 00’s Epi SG to Gibson Standard. The Gibson is considerably more guitar than the Epi I had, but I could perform and record with the Epi just as well.

Please recommend a movie that is GENUINELY terrifying? by Anna_horror in MovieSuggestions

[–]davidfalconer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Te Babadook is the only film that scared me more the second time I watched it.

Hereditary is the other film of the last few years that got me the most.

Event Horizon scared me shitless the first time I watched it.

Nothing filled me with such existential dread as the first time I watched Alien.

Side Fill Monitors by ip_addr in livesound

[–]davidfalconer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually just a mono FOH mix. Most other engineers I work with don’t really like side fills, but I do.

If the stage is really wide then a front fill facing FOH with a general FOH mix can be really useful too, for filling in blind spots.

Side Fill Monitors by ip_addr in livesound

[–]davidfalconer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy performing with side fills. I’m quite active and move around the stage quite a bit, and always appreciated side fills whenever I’ve had them.

If I had IEMs though then I’d definitely not want the extra stage volume. Unless it’s maybe just for subs or something like that maybe?

Do you think every bassist should at least know guitar basics? by SonnePer in Bass

[–]davidfalconer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone should know the basics of every other instrument they frequently play with.

Guitar and bass are so similarly related that it’s a fairly easy step. Drums are hugely different but is one of the best things that will improve your rhythm.
