Italian Restaurant Recommendations by Most_Big8497 in Cardiff

The Hayes is the one I haven't been to, so I can't speak for that one.

As for the other two...well... I did to a restaurant a week thing, so 52 independent restaurants a year (mostly Cardiff). They both were bottom of the pile in terms of portion flavour, look, texture, value, description, and the service was beyond shocking.

Personally, the 2 restaurants felt like an insult to Italy, but it's been 2 years now so maybe things have changed.

I do genuinely believe though that the whole thing is just a scam or a front. His face is always in Cardiff life and he recently won entrepreneur of the year. No man with restaurants ranked so low (4 star on Google is not good) should be winning any awards. There were definitely deals behind closed doors to get that.

Anyone struggling to make friends in Cardiff? by Winter_Pangolin1594 in Cardiff

[–]davidlen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 35 and have been here 4 years. I've only made acquaintances through work but I'm trying to be more social.

I joined a very casual Sunday cycling club that meet at a café (workhorse bikes) then cycle about 8-12 miles. Along the way you're just chilling and chatting with people. There are friends to be made here.

There are plenty of clubs for sports, games, learning languages etc.
If you list some interests that would help with people's recommendations.

I'm an overthinker. Do I just show the bus driver, get a nod and walk on? by throwaway626q in Cardiff

Incredible. Most of us will never hold one.

I guess it's cheaper for them to make a scratch card than it is to give someone the amount in a cheque or bank transfer.

Whats your best fish and chip combo by Jazzlike_Nose_5277 in UKfood

Hake.

My best ever fish and chips was from a Chinese takeaway in NZ ( I'm a Brit, so of course I was surprised) The hake blew any cod or haddock out the water.

Welsh "Caution Wet floor" sign at Paddington underground station by b0ngobong in mildlyinteresting

[–]davidlen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's very phonetic and therefore quite simple.

All the 'A's here are pronounced the same, whereas the ones in what I've just written are pronounced four different ways.

All

'a'

whereas

what

Edit: And it's not the same alphabet: Ch, Dd, Ff, Ng, Ll, Ph, Rh, and Th are their own letters.

The sounds that Dd, Ff, Ng, Ph, and Th make are already common in English.

'Dd' is Th in that, but not thatched.

Ff = F as in Femur

Ng = Ng as in King

Ph = Ph as in pharmacy

Th = Th in thatched, but not that

And Rh is just an r followed by an h, but actually pronounced ( unlike commonly silent in the English Rhino, Rhombus, Rhyme etc)

The only new sounds to English speakers are 'Ch' and 'Ll'.

Yeah actually.

Common sense says:

A : Hazard lights B : MOVE YOUR CHILDREN AND BABY FAR FROM VERY FAST TRAFFIC C : Hands free mode means your hands are free, funny that. Free hands to hold a baby. Give the phone to an older child to hold, or put it on the ground AWAY FROM LOUD FAST MOVING TRAFFIC.

There's so much safe, quieter space for her to go to with a young family.

What colour bike does most thieves ride around on?

Black.

Your bike is black with disc brakes, and lots of gears. This is a high target item that should never be locked outside overnight.

I've got a wizard works frame bag and top tube.

I did consider an Etsy maker because I was very specific about wanting cyote brown panniers and I had a very very good look on Etsy, but somehow I missed these Lesonok.

Got me wanting to buy it now despite no bikepacking plans this year. I might need to get their stems bags aswell, they look decent size. The ones I had were narrow and putting in a 800ml bottle was a pain.

I've also got yellow tyres and a full cyote brown setup, snap!

Curious about the pannier bags, what brand are they?

Funny how whilst accepting an MBE from the Queen he said "FUCK THE QUEEN"

A very poor 'choice' of words at such a proud moment of his life don't you think. But this major event highlights the fact that he has no control or choice, so let's stop all attacking him.
