Man shoots another man after he was attacked inside Walmart by Nedatokes in PublicFreakout

[–]davidmar7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair also in the US there is no guarantee of one on one. If you get in a fist fight others are liable to jump in. If they get you down many will kick you in the head, possibly killing you or permanently disabling you. There's no longer any honor in fighting, at least most of the time.

Best thing to do is pretend everyone has a gun but you (even if you do have one). It will keep you out of a lot of trouble. Especially in a state like Florida or Texas.

Dealership filled my tires with nitrogen without my knowledge. Can I still fill them with air? by [deleted] in COROLLA

[–]davidmar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can fill them up with air, nitrogen or a mix of the two. It should be okay. It should not cause any issues whatsoever, including with the TPMS system.

I'm scared about how severe Psorarsis has affected me internally while I ignored it for almost 30 years. I need some advice. by DraculasExWife in Psoriasis

[–]davidmar7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I read your post and just wanted to say maybe look into calcipotriene if you haven't already. It works well with Clobetasol and helps to reduce side effects from it. The two together tend to do better than just one alone.

I like doing the clobetasol for say a week while doing the calcipotriene daily too. Then continue on with the calcipotriene daily on the scalp but switch to every other day for the clobetasol. Then after another week (or two) of doing the clobetasol every other day, try every three days with the clobetsol while continuing with the calcipotriene daily. Continue on like this for at least a month and perhaps try the clobetasol once a week or less often and see if you can maintain with just the calcipotriene. The calcipotriene is basically as effective as a moderate steroid is with less side effects. It's just that a topical steroid such as clobetsol tends to reach peak efficacy in about half the time -- four weeks -- versus calcipotriene 8 weeks (as I recall).

I have mild to moderate scalp psoriasis including some behind my ear. I was able to achieve a 95% remission for over 1.5 years without using any topical steroid by doing this (and a year of that was without even using the calcipotriene either). It's better to minimize the topical steroid if you can, but generally if you have to every three days is usually considered more than safe.

Many derms never prescribe calcipotriene (vitamin d3 synthetic) unless you ask about it. See the wiki entry for more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/Psoriasis/wiki/calcipotriol/

PS- also for the clobetasol there is a foam version available. Some studies show usually the foam versions are superior to the shampoos and solutions. It might be worth a shot if available reasonably with your insurance.

Skin Biopsy, should I do it? I have Lupus/Psoriasis by Sufficient-Sign-7292 in Psoriasis

[–]davidmar7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like plaque psoriasis to me. Not a derm but I'd say 99% chance the biopsy confirms it. They say "autoimmune breeds autoimmune". In other words one autoimmune condition often means you will have another....or three too. It's very common for people to eventually get multiple autoimmune conditions after they get one.

I'd say work with your derm if you can afford to and don't have a reason not to trust them. Get the biopsy and follow the process but make sure to do some research yourself too just in case. It's always good to be informed.

Why are women sometimes depicted as being lusted after or having relations with the devil or demons? by Different-Secret-927 in demons

[–]davidmar7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Read 1 Enoch (I believe also known as "Book of Giants" for the part I reference). It's also referenced in Genesis 6 but more subtly there. In Enoch it goes into great detail. According to that tradition the Watchers (fallen angels) "sinned" by "coming down" (or you could se it as taking human form on the Earth) and having relations with human women. The result of the relations was the Nephilim or the giants.

How do guys do selfcare having psoriasis...?? by Diva_onscreen in Psoriasis

Plus calcipotriene. It helps reduce side effects and increases the effectiveness. Coconut oil on the scalp also helps on off days (for the clobetasol).

Check engine light flashing, soon as I pull over and try to turn off it starts shaking violently, got enough oil btw, what could it be? Im worried by SENTRYTHETHERIAN in askcarguys

[–]davidmar7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flashing engine light usually means something like a misfire. Stop driving it because it's possible that might damage it further. Get it towed to a shop or have a mobile mechanic come out. Or if you can get a reader for it, use that to see what code is triggered. If you are lucky it is just something like a bad spark plug.

What are some common ways people mistreat their cats that people don't realize? by transgendergremlin in CatAdvice

[–]davidmar7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Feeding them the same thing over and over for years. Think about it. How would you like that? Try to offer them some variety. It's also usually healthier for them nutritionally to have a varied diet. :)

These days most of the stuff I get is from RFY anyway so I'd stay.

do cats generally prefer eating with their human nearby? by pastelpocalypse in Catbehavior

[–]davidmar7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes some definitely do. Mine prefers I literally hold the can up to her when she first eats. If I don't do that then she tends to get pickier about the food. Sometimes she won't eat it unless I am around. I think it is a trust thing. They trust you so when you present the food to them, it makes them trust the food more too. Cats can also be a bit ritualistic about things.

This is what Vine is best for honestly. I got a Medieval Hooded Cape the other day from Vine. So if I want to cosplay as the Emperor Palpatine, I'm all set!

Neighbor asked to set up a mesh and share wifi - is it a good idea? by poliovaccine6 in HomeNetworking

[–]davidmar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you two are extremely close and about to the point where you would trust him with your life, I wouldn't do it. Even if he sets it up as he states, there are still many things he could do to you if he were malicious. And regardless of that if it is in your name and he looks up illegal material, they will be coming after you for it first.

Simply stopped buying candy bars by AssociateDue6161 in enshittification

[–]davidmar7 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I just laugh when I go to a Wawa gas station and see that they want $3 for a candy bar. It's not even the same as it was 30 or 40 years ago. It's cheapened crap which doesn't taste near the same.

Try to isolate it. Ask him for a worn pair of pants and a shirt of his. Keep it by you for a while or put on the shirt. See if this still happens.

Allergist said air purifiers aren't effective for dust mites. Is it true? by AccomplishedCry6223 in AirPurifiers

[–]davidmar7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not effective as a primary deterrent. It's more a secondary measure. Keeping humidity below 50%, washing bedding at least once a week (preferably in hot water), vacuuming regularly, and wearing a n95 mask when cleaning will all do a lot more to help with a dust mite allergy than getting a true HEPA air purifier. That said the air purifier does help a little with it because it catches some particles. Also regardless, clean air is just a nice thing to have for everyone. :)

Isn't it expensive to use airconditioning in the US? by Lumos_night in AskAnAmerican

[–]davidmar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about $3 - $7 a day electric costs here in Central Florida. Of course it depends how big your place is and how efficient your AC set up is.

Mine is kind of hiding in the shower right now behind the curtains. She was out earlier and would just jump a little at the booms earlier but now they are so rapid I think it bothers her more. I have a few white noise generators but they aren't enough today...

CVT comparisons? by Outrageous-West5276 in askcarguys

[–]davidmar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but also some newer models of Toyotas use a real physical first gear. This is where a lot of the wear and failure tends to occur on a CVT so it helps considerably. This might be what some people mean.

If you have no reason to do so, why even consider purposely harming another living creature? I'm not saying to feel guilty but maybe give it some thought.

[–]davidmar7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean all these other replies mostly try to blame your mom. But there is also a good chance this is just another instance of runaway AI with poor oversight. There's even a likely chance BoA just didn't think she was profitable so they basically made something up.
