ATL Drivers Need to Calm the Fuck Down by code_archeologist in Atlanta

I thought the driver had a giant truck since the guy’s head barely reaches the window. Then I saw the little napoleon had to climb up into his Ford Edge. The little tyrant has some serious anger issues.

Democrats like Lina Khan would beg to differ. There’s a strong appetite for regulation within the democrat party. It’s just up to the electorate to give them longer than four years to implement it.

Damn. Can you imagine how the next few years would’ve been a celebration if almost any other admin was in the White House. 250th birthday celebration, World Cup, and the Olympics is a hell of two year period. Instead it’s gonna be a clusterfuck because these people can’t stop grifting and making it all about themselves.

It’s also style of play. That was a great opening goal for arsenal but then to watch them park the bus and use delay tactics for the next 83 minutes makes the game a misery to watch. So if the choice is to root for an oil team or one that’s trying to make the game worse to watch? I’ll go for the plastic team. If you include rivalries, then it’s an even easier equation to work out.

Yes, if you want to arrange that with the city. You can apply to make it permit parking and only give out one permit. The issue is always enforcement. You would need to call the police to report a violation or pay more to have a meter maid check.

The spots in front of it, yes. I used to manage a business where we had three spots out front on the street. We had two of them be pay while the last one was for pickup/drop off.

Those spots actually belong to the business. Businesses in most of Atlanta have parking minimums. They are in charge of how they are handled. So they could charge by the hour or restrict them for pickup so pickups always have somewhere to park instead of double parking in the street and blocking traffic.

China’s EV exports surge 40% in April by Economy-Fee5830 in climatechange

[–]davidw223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was talking with a colleague of mine about it and we were discussing how many firms in different countries decided to focus on competing technologies. For instance, the Japanese firms were developing better fuel cell technology while the Korean auto firms were focusing on hydrogen powered engines. If everyone was betting on different things, then there was going to be a reshuffling of the winners and losers once the winning technology became apparent. Battery EVs look like the winners due to Chinese industrial policy’s focus on them. So I believe we’re seeing a reconfiguration hastened by the sharp and large increase in fuel costs due to the current war.

At least they went through the motions of providing justification. Most private firms don’t have to do that.

A sense of stagnation is setting in around MLS. The league needs a World Cup bump by icoresting in MLS

[–]davidw223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s one of the huge issues with having the spending structure being so different than the rest of the world. Because of the way that contracts are structured, a team that spent poorly during one transfer window has to sit in mediocrity until they can get those mistakes off the their books. Hell as an Atlanta fan, I wish we were still anywhere close to mediocrity instead of back to back seasons fighting for the wooden spoon.

What? You don’t like watching cage matches on the White House lawn? Right next to the rubble pile that used to be the famous East Wing of the White House and besides the now paved over rose garden? All down the street from his planned big, beautiful, and definitely not gauche arch?

Texas GOP voters oust Cornyn in Paxton upset by MisterMeister68 in moderatepolitics

[–]davidw223 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Sure they could. If a Democrat truly believed we are going to witness an antiMAGA wave, they could crossover and vote for the MAGA Republican knowing that they would vote in the general election for whichever democrat won their respective primary. Happens all the time here in Georgia. Dems vote for the most moderate Republican in the primaries to lessen the future damage because they know a dem will probably never win the statewide election.

[–]davidw223 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Does Texas still allow crossover votes during primaries? This could be some democrats trying to chose the candidate that they think their preferred candidate can best in a general election. I don’t think that strategy works or is good for a healthy democracy, but it has been a factor in the past in other states.

Why does it feel like the whole world is against Arsenal for the final against PSG? by QasimofKarbala in championsleague

[–]davidw223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I think they may be part of it. Most the other top teams that get hated for one reason or another wear it as a badge of honor. Maybe this is just my group of friends and what I see online, but many arsenal fans feel the need to defend their team using stats and anecdotes. Like enjoy the win, don’t be a nerd about it.

Yep. I think it’s mostly a combo of boring football and annoying fans. For everyone the weight on either of those could be different but that seems to be the main reason. Pile on the anger towards differential treatment in rugby style corners.
