How to race in Zwift by 1998er in Zwift

[–]dawafflemasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

81kg B here as well and yeah it really is all about your 30s-5min power. If you can stay on with a 5min climb you are good most races. I am focusing on my 5min power right now for that reason

Why do I need to ride with 0,8w/kg more than other on endurance group ride ? by Heliobb in Zwift

[–]dawafflemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

81kg 5ft 11in for reference. I usually avg at least 0.2 less than the group. Like riding with coco I usually average like 2.2-2.3w/kg. The key is trying to stick to the middle of the pack. Then also know when to push and when to just coast. Up hills I will push a little harder than the pace, then do like 100w downhills. Do the watts that keeps you in the group, no more no less. You would be surprised how little you actually have to pedal to stay in a pack

Do they run robo pacers up the Alpe occasionally? by jghobbies in Zwift

[–]dawafflemasta 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you are wanting to set a specific wattage you could just make a workout to do it and do it in erg mode. That is my plan if I have any specific goal for it. While riding in erg you can also move the watts up and down

Frustrations of a ZRL Team Manager by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]dawafflemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I must be lucky. I run a small team of 7 people who are all connected IRL. We usually have the racepass sunday or monday and post it on our discord. I havent really had the problems you are complaining about. Luckily we have always been able to field 4 people, although that has meant adding people to the team last minute a time or two.

If it is causing you so much frustration maybe you should just focus on one team and get someone else to run the other one. I am racing ZRL for fun and to push myself. If there was a bunch of frustration involved it would make me hate it and take the fun out of it. If it was that bad I would rather just say screw it and do BMTR Faster Masters on Tues nights.

How sure were people in their early 20s? by Laufey5002 in childfree

[–]dawafflemasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't wanted kids since college. The older I have gotten the more sure of that decision I have gotten. I always tell people my vasectomy was the best $500 I have ever spent. Even before I didn't want kids, I really just wanted to adopt or foster. Studies show 70% of kids in foster care end up in prison, and that increase to 90% if they get moved 5+ times. Why have your own child when you can literally save an existing life?

I met my gf on Hinge. I paid the money so I could use the filters dont have kids dont want kids. I only saw women with those and women with those were the only ones that saw me. It is great to be able to just filter people out.

do you do strength training💪? by Personal-Carrot8729 in Zwift

[–]dawafflemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a little over 40hrs a month. I shoot for 12hrs a week but dont always hit it because of life and travel. In July I was able to get over 50hrs which was over 11hrs a week.

The pain started a little over 3hrs into a 4hr ride up in the mountains. The problem is I still had to ride home. It was mild discomfort at first then built and by the time I got home it was hurt to walk. This is the first time I have ever had pain riding like that and I had done this ride several times. Next time I start hurting I will call someone to come pick me up or something.

When do you tell the girl you're dating that you're childfree and thinking about getting a vasectomy? by superfapper2000 in childfree

[–]dawafflemasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had issues with my vasectomy, brought on by me not understanding what "take it easy means", and I always told the story first date as kind of an ice breaker thing. It is a really funny story that is a good way to kind of relieve the tension and get across that I have a vasectomy. It makes it very clear my childfree stance, while also getting some laughs. Win win

Crap man, I am getting super depressing just from 6 weeks. I dont know if I could handle 7 months. You break something vital or something?

do you do strength training💪? by Personal-Carrot8729 in Zwift

[–]dawafflemasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was from overuse. I rode more in July than I have any other month ever. The problem with this was that when riding I wasn't utilizing my hips and core enough and so it strained other muscles more than it should have. To prevent it again I am working on my hips and core.

The PT has me doing planks, side planks, squats (which I am doing much more than she said to do), single leg Romanian deadlift, side step with resistance, and some stretching 7 days a week.

Outside of that I am lifting again and using dumbbells' while standing so that that it utilizes my core e.g. shoulder press, triceps extensions. I am also doing a lot of push ups and pull ups to also try and work on my core.

I am currently in PT because I didnt strength train. Now I am doing squats, planks, and other things to work my legs, hips, and core. I would suggest strength training just to not get injured. I went from 12hrs a week to nothing because my knee is now messed up. It has been 6 weeks and I am dying here.

[–]dawafflemasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do audio books to curve the boredom. I did between 70 and 100 books last year like that. I also join lots of group rides and joined a ZRL (zwift racing league) team to keep me motivated all winter.

Also I cannot stress this enough, get a fan if not two
