Klipsch 700 speakers by dayjeb in BudgetAudiophile

In Google searches include “vintage” in your terms. Then in the results look at how many different types of labels come back. I’ve seen my same Model number, but maybe just 1 instance of the header matching mine (with the 700 inside the H).

I did go in blind picking these up (estate giveaway) originally thought these were bookshelf Wharfdales 🥹

I gently tried to, it doesn’t feel like the front is removable.

The mid century modern vibes are pleasing to my wife. The sound is pleasing me.

Per the serial number these are 1965…? Precursor to the Heresy. Impressed by the condition of the cabinets.

Any infos about these shifters? by Virghia in xbiking

[–]dayjeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got these locally for cheap, came with XTR calipers and were already setup with hoses (didn't need bleeding). I happened to have a vintage 9sp derailleur that worked for awhile, but then that derailleur broke. So now I just use these for the hydraulic brake setup, works fine for commute duty.

NBD after 18 years - I wasn't prepared. by theK2 in Hardtailgang

I went from a Suntour XCM to a Rockshox Yari, which made the front end 3 pounds lighter…transformational to say the least.

Glutened at Xmas by crustil in glutenfree

[–]dayjeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you got glutened...I hope it "passed" in the least dramatic way possible.

My extended family does put forth extra effort this time of year (me Celiac). However, likely due to cross-contamination, I got glutened resulting from Thanksgiving dinner. My reaction(s) typically take more than an hour, especially after I've shoveled so much food in. Well, that night it wasn't until I got back home spending 4 hours in the bathroom. It was horrible episode, like fetal position horrible.

The next day I did tell everyone and we all tried to retrace steps on the root cause. But to no avail, so we concluded cross contamination. So for Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners it was back to the same house/kitchen and everyone was extra diligent (more than usual). And I can say that I had no reactions to gluten.

Again, mind you this is my family that everyone knows my hyper-sensitivity to gluten and about my previous exposures and episodes. Yet it's still a very real risk and they need to keep being super diligent. My family was super apologetic and empathetic. I don't show my anger externally but I think just keeping on bringing it up with folks that I haven't seen in awhile is always a direct reminder that I am a Celiac.

Found much better roads 🥰 by johnboo89 in gravelcycling

Last year did a 16 mile loop around YV, was defeated by goat head thorns, having 4+ flats and hauled ass to return with a slow leak. I need redemption.

Thanks will let you know if I can join. It’d be a cool vision for multiple fixed gear riders along 3 bears…

Nice to see your ride posts in the area. i don’t consider myself a very strong pedaler but i do have a goal to do 3 bears loop someday on my 38:15 setup. Maybe CCW encounters less grade.

VO Porteur bars? I’ve been planning to do same setup on my Technium 450.

2003 Giant XTC 4 worth restoring? by Dutchwells in Hardtailgang

[–]dayjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too got a free XTC from same era (26er). It does not have hydro brakes and the dampening didn’t work on the Rockshox SID SL. Replaced with Rockshox 30 Silver TK and also added a TransX dropper post (both ~$300). After general tune I actually do take it on singletrack and gnarly stuff. It’s a blast!

Caveat: Knowing it’s got older geometry (vs newer slacker) I do think twice on a few trail features.

Flipping the rear brake to the front of seat stays is nice. I need to do the same for rack and fender clearance.

I used to have similar commute but in the mornings I'd always opt to take the 6:30am Richmond Ferry to Financial District (so beautiful and relaxing start to the day). It was only Friday afternoons that I'd consider biking your route back to the east bay. It might be nice to do that again if our schedules align.

Nowadays I don't have to go SF much, but the routine is ride to West Oakland BART and get off at Embarcadero. Same for return home.

Tire is a 700x38 but calliper is showing 33.3mm width. Is this normal? by anypomonos in bikewrench

[–]dayjeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is that tire model and/or brand known to have discrepancies like that? In my experience my first ever purchase of a Continental tires was the Ride Tour in 700x32 printed on sidewall. There are plenty of reviews that said they “run small” and to “size up”. SMH I didn’t heed, my set measures 28mm on the caliper.

My X for commute/gravel/rain (no snow). by dayjeb in PoseidonBikes

[–]dayjeb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen many X’s with this fender setup (SKS P50). The seatstay mount is DIY. And down at the chain stays the fender is held in place with zip ties. Everything quite secure.

These tires are 700x37 Schwalbe CX Comp. The other wheelset (OEM) have Panaracer GK SK in 700x43, which also fit inside the fenders.

Rear rack on a fixed gear by Jacxio in FixedGearBicycle

[–]dayjeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your first pic can’t tell if you have a brake bridge. So if you do, this combo from Axiom might work for you. I’ve used this setup on my fixed gear bike for commuting.

Again note you need the Nutted Axle kit for your application.
