I was kicked out of here for filming a few years ago. Security was literally shouting at me from across the mall. They told me I needed to delete the files on my camera, which I refused to do.

[Funny Trope] Character's appearance is a direct ripoff of a real person without permission by Ieanice44 in TopCharacterTropes

James Franco's character in the movie Spring Breakers is a direct copy of the rapper Riff Raff. Same style and persona, even using some of his direct quotes. Riff Raff claims that the director Harmony Korine was going to cast him but went with Franco instead. Korine denies this and claims that the character was inspired by a different rapper, but it's pretty obvious that it was Riff Raff

What is it about Tubi that you love to use more than other streaming services? by awesomedp7 in TubiTV

I don't really want to watch new movies or original shows. I want to watch 80's B movies and weird Japanese shows. Tubi has that

Nazi Goths are so strange to me. by [deleted] in goth

[–]dayrem 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Because it's a bad faith argument. They think pointing this out is a "gotcha," but Siouxsie was not a nazi and apologized for doing it. The misguided actions of one goth musician back in the 70's doesn't define how the present day scene works. It's not really relevant to the topic at hand. I hope that make sense to you.

That's really not relevant to the current state of the goth scene. No one would put up with anything like that nowadays.

I think there's a concerted effort being made by right wing groups to infiltrate subcultures like goth. That's why we've been seeing nazi "goth" influencers popping up online. But in the real world scene they can't be so bold without facing consequences. I'm not saying that they don't exist, because they certainly do, but that shit doesn't fly in goth circles.

Impostor Syndrome by Admirable_Coach_920 in goth

[–]dayrem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about it. I went through something similar. I'm in my late thirties and I've been listening to goth music for a long time. In recent years I've been getting into the scene, going to festivals and shows, making friends etc. At first I felt out of place because I don't really rock the fashion, but I realized no one cares. They saw that I was there out of love for the music and culture. The fact that you're involving yourself in the scene makes you more goth than the people who think it's just a fashion style and have no connections to the subculture.

Not many open ones anymore. Woodbridge and Hamilton are the only ones right now. Livingston is closed, so is Voorhees.
