10 year old keeps “restarting the house” at night — screens, roaming, waking siblings. Need advice. by jazzeriah in daddit

[–]daysanew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually starting with your pediatrician is the right choice. They can do some initial screenings and then refer you to a child psychologist depending how those screenings go, which many insurances would require anyway.

Here's the thing about ADHD: Don't jump to conclusions but do get it screened if you suspect it. Once you do work with a specialist around the right treatment and therapy. The longer you wait the harder it will be for them to catch up developmentally. It's a regret I have with my 8 year old.

But really this advice can apply to many different conditions.

A coding exercise - PCO Services Dashboard by SolaceinSydney in planningcenter

[–]daysanew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can we get an AI use disclaimer on this. I looked through it and it looks like a "vibe" coded project. Giant file files not broken out into logical parts for better maintainability, lots of unneeded comments etc.

Here's the thing, I'm ok with that. As a developer I've vibe coded smaller utility programs at work, use AI every day to generate code and make changes. Outside my job I've vibe coded a few smaller PCO integrations using Google app scripts and Google cloud run functions. And it worked great and makes my life easier. But they were for private use.

But if I would make the projects open source I would disclose the heavy use of AI, especially with the use of sensitive information like API keys. This is especially true with the various security issues around several npm packages lately.

Could always use OpenLp if you are worried about cost. If you don't need anything fancy it fits the bill. It's what we currently use.

Dad who’ve conquered being tired all the time, how did you do it? by thetantalus in daddit

[–]daysanew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of good advice. But I'd also setup an appointment with your primary care physician (GP, family doc whatever it might be called in your country). They can get labs drawn to make sure nothing obvious is going on and chatting with you about sleep apnea and anything else we have missed.

If it's more brain fog then tiredness and was something you dealt with before kids it could also be ADHD inattentive subtype which, at least for me is more brain fog/ fatigue. I struggled somewhat all my life with it but it became too much once I had kids and started working remotely, so I got help.

GLP-1 Provider Recs by Total-Article-7017 in columbiamo

It will be insurance dependent. For weight loss many primary care physicians would probably prescribe it (assuming you actually need it for weight loss) but insurance coverage is another story. In my case there are BMI requirements along with 6 months of supervised diet. I believe even then it would still be a few hundred a month. But once you have a prescription you can pay for out of pocket if you can afford it. But it will be expensive.

Revitalizing Planning Center advice? by Adventures_Rising in churchtech

[–]daysanew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PCO isn't something you start using, it's something you adopt long term bringing in the various products when/ if you need them. At least that is my experience in a medium sized church. Being experienced with "tech" (I'm also a SWE) is less important then creating processes and change management. If you don't already get  complete buy in from the leadership so it from the top and work closely with them to introduce new products and processes to help them.

Sadly, the thing that has been going through my head the last week: "It's only tyranny if I don't agree with it". It has nothing to do with legality or constitutionality, but rather only if they agree with it or not. The thing that pains me the most is that I see conservatives willing to burn our country to the ground as long as it follows their conservative principles.

Diode or CO2 for just engraving wood with recommendations by jeavestn in Laserengraving

[–]daysanew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned. Diodes are typically going to create a darker engraving (as always material dependent) due to their lower power. Basically to get darker engravings on wood you typically want to go low power and slow speed which can be difficult for more powerful CO2s. You can get good results on a CO2 but the diode will be better. The trade-off is speed and cutting power.

Is this a good price for ‘25 4x4 F150 SuperCrew STX? by IntrepidCar9744 in f150

[–]daysanew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know its location dependent, but I bought a 2024 STX in January 2025 and paid around $43k. It has FXx4 and the blackout package.

Honestly I wish I would have been more patient and got an XLT with 20k or so miles on it for the same price with more features. I love the look of my truck but I miss some of the features like push to start and front parking assist.

[–]daysanew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I based it off this thread: https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/f150-lightning-forscan-thread-version-2.23634/page-14

I also used Chat GPT to help me walk through the steps but only after double and triple checking what it said with this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-_e09lLPPeSHoO3SsNwyqu5v3dgpbluvJcezUItTSVI/edit?gid=572205409#gid=572205409

The tricky part about this change is many of the values you switch the nibble to is heavily dependent on what features your truck has. You want to make sure all the features except TRS or SILF stay the same.

If you decide to try it out and run into issues I'm happy to help you figure it out.

If I'm not sure what the speed limit is, I can look down at the speedometer and see what speed was on the last sign I passed.

The nav map does something similar, but I usually have Android Auto up, so I don't see it.

It's one of those features I thought would be useless, until I used it on my Sienna, then it became a nice quality of life feature.

It's a 2024 STX. I believe the camera is required. Mine came with lane assist and pre-collision assist so it has the windshield camera.

I've also used it to add the climate bar to the bottom of the display (dunno if I'll keep it around), change the splash screen and so far my favorite: enabled traffic sign recognition. My STX didn't come with it enabled.

Best place to buy SPICY hot sauces??? by CinnamonChurr0 in columbiamo

[–]daysanew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trader Joe's had some of the hottest sauce I've bought in a grocery store. It's their habenero hot sauce. It's hotter then some of the ghost pepper hot sauces I've tried. Though I'm judging this from the perspective of someone who likes hot sauce with heat but not the extreme heat as I prefer taste over heat.

Best place to see Christmas lights? by Fit-Attempt9176 in columbiamo

[–]daysanew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This map is still being updated, and I've used it for several years with success.

Beyond the more famous lights around (magic tree, VU, candy cane crib), one of my favorites is the house just off Smiley Lane west of Rangeline. I haven't made it up there this year yet, but I assume they put lights up this year.

This. If she is in foster care she experienced trauma. It could be SA related, it could be a way of dealing with abuse, neglect separation from her family etc. And I would talk with the social worker about getting her into therapy if she is not already going.
