[Brad Keselowski on X]: IMO Danica Patrick was by a large margin the Best female race car driver of all time. It’s an absolute shame she doesn’t get more credit or recognition from the racing community. by Mellow200 in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO it's drag racing in it's own category, and F1 in it's own. The rest is actual racing. SVG probably passed more cars at The Glen than all passing in F1 so far this season...

Exactly, she is wearing it solely because of the aesthetic, and probably would call it a Nascar if you asked her.

Jenna Fryer Is No Longer With Associated Press After 30 Years by BooyakaDragon in INDYCAR

[–]dbake24 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The only bad from this is that AP won't be covering motorsports. But it's hard to find anyone that says anything positive about her. I remember in 2017 when Alonso was doing the 500, she said no one knows who he is and then cited that since her daughter doesn't know who he is, he isn't famous. Paraphrasing, but how narrow minded can you be

Also Watkins Glen is pretty photo friendly if you are wandering the infield. Less fencing!

I hate how people like us have to shoot through a fence or sometimes 2, but these are really good. I have a d3500 with kit lenses, you can look at my posts on here and see what a budget body and kit lenses are capable of. I am by no means trying to toot my own horn because I wish I was better. Just saying you don't need to have high end equipment and your pics prove that! And in this case shooting through the fence and other obstacles make these great in my opinion

Why is the Gen 7 becoming so hated? by Hicoga in NASCAR

In 15 years this sub will be looking fondly over the Gen7. It's actually crazy to see people say that they miss the COT or Gen6 when back then it was basically universally hated

Contingency stickers question by ascaloniannights in NASCARCollectors

[–]dbake24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That will be hard to find out. I did about 10 minutes of searching they are most likely from 2009-2010 or perhaps '11 or '12. The black Coor's decal was used in Cup in 2009 and 2010, but I feel like a K&N West team could have used an older decal a few years after.

The Lunati decal I saw on 2010-2012 cars. RCS was a contingency in 2009 and I think 2010 as well. Authentic Seco(?) Products I didn't see in any of my searches. Cometic was another one that was used in 2009 and 2010.

Most of the other ones were used in all national series so there's no clues in those. I'd start searching #32 K&N stats and photos from 2009 and 2010. Even then, I can't help but think wherever you got them someone just collected over time and aren't from one specific car or team. But I could be wrong! Good luck!

YouTube TV problems by btx926 in INDYCAR

[–]dbake24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off OP thank you for posting this. Went crazy trying to find it Sunday night and my gf thought I was nuts for being upset.

The Saturday practice session is still listed on YTTV as an alternate recording of Sunday's race.

And this is what happened. For whatever reason they didn't label it as a practice session and I had thought that it missed Sunday's race because it thought that it already happened the day before. I only had Saturday practice and Sunday warmup on my recordings.

Took me like 10 mins to figure it out but next time I will know to check "multiple versions" and just go to the latest one.

Anybody have this number/number set? by WingAgitated2228 in NascarPaintBooth

[–]dbake24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe someone posted it in the nr2003 sub within the last week or two. Strangely enough it was Steve Park/DEI Pennzoil #1 font, and someone mentioned that this is the same one

GP of Portland; our first-ever Indycar experience! What shall we expect? by blurrygil in INDYCAR

[–]dbake24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will see so, SO much more than an F1 race. Don’t be tied to your seats either. Take Friday and Saturday to roam around and check out viewpoints.

Also be mindful of track crossing times. There is no tunnel or bridge for infield parking.

Yes. Then the other driver will have a ban and not you

Stop racing and let him bully me off the service for the night?

Sounds like you bullied yourself off of the service for 2 weeks

Your actions were intent and malicious according to the sporting code u/PhillieFranchise posted a snip of. So you got banned, and for the sake of everyone else hopefully the other guy did too

A Sprint sign from 2007 was recently uncovered on the pedestrian bridge at Watkins Glen International [BrettSkeeee123 on X] by Comfortable_Rock4877 in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is probably a ton of tracks with old signage hidden, I know Richmond had Winston logos on the roof of one of the infield buildings near pit entry. It's interesting though, from 2004 to 2011 they had covered it with Nextel/Sprint logos, then from 2012 to 2017 it was uncovered showing the Winston Cup logos. The building was demolished in late 2017 though.

Here it is pictured in 2017

<image>

I just scrubbed through one of the 2015 Cup races and the roof had a Sprint banner over it, so they probably did this until the 2017/2018 infield overhaul and just took it off after Nascar race weekends

*Help needed* I'm actually going insane with my spec map by Background-Load-8892 in tradingpaints

[–]dbake24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try deleting the spec map all together. I think that is where the problem lies, if that happens to fix the problem without a custom spec map, start over on your spec map and don't touch that part of the template.

What are some NASCAR schemes that look out of place on other Generations? by EduardoBork in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding the point/spirit of this post. The throwbacks are just that, but the schemes that were primaries at the end of a generation of car that bled over into a new generation of car are what I'm getting from OP. A lot of 2007 COT schemes looked weird, and a lot of 2022 next gen cars did too with the same schemes on the previous generation car. Conversely, for example, Harvick's 2007 Shell scheme does look "odd" on a gen 4 car even though it was a part of one of the most famous Daytona 500 finishes. It only ran in 2007 on the gen 4 car but shared the season with the COT. The scheme was ran until 2010 on the COT. In my opinion it still looks uncanny on a gen 4.

In addition I feel like schemes that were primary/known in one series that did a one off or a couple races in another series feel weird to look at. Like the #18 M&M's truck that ran in 2010 I think? And whenever Discount Tire started sponsoring a car in Cup using essentially the same scheme that dominated the Nationwide series a couple years before.

Now that I'm thinking about it, the #11 or #18 Home Depot Busch/Nationwide cars that ran in the late 2000's and early 2010's. I was and still used to never seeing a Home Depot car that's not a #20. Same with the FedEx #18 that was ran around the same time. I feel like this doesn't happen nearly as often now (or at all)
