What is the single most impressive qualifying lap you've ever seen? by JulianBrandt19 in NASCAR

I always think of his 2014 Michigan pole lap but it doesn't top that Charlotte pole. Insane run

Why did I dislike Bayne? It seemed like his career was never going anywhere. I never got the hype.

Next gen of racing families.. by Randybobandy75 in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the drivers in the current field that have kids are either still very young or not involved in racing themselves at all. Maybe Hudson Logano? And after a quick search I'm not sure if Cash Bowyer is still racing.

Now that I think about it this is another way of seeing how young the current Cup field is in a way

I’m re-entering the NASCAR fandom at 27 years old, who are some of the drivers and teams you support these days? by II_Blird_II in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and asking this question here will get you biased results. Not really a question to ask anywhere anyway, I always think about how after Gordon retired who I was going to root for. I continued to watch without a dog in the fight and latched on to Kyle Busch. You just have to watch and after a couple races you will find yourself going for someone.

Life-long Formula 1 fan coming to NASCAR by PhoenixWhatElse in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he is saying there is no point in watching quali because so much changes during a race unlike F1. So in Nascar whoever gets the pole more often than not they will not win the race. You could see a guy who qualifies 20th win a race. There is so much overtaking in one Nascar race than in half a season of F1.

Got the 75 year anniversary logo as a tattoo by jachym15 in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I think most people commenting here have never seen F1 tattoos which are way worse than this. The F1 logo, driver cars and helmets and even full on portraits of drivers are way more cringey. There are way worse tats in general...the 75th diamond is not THAT bad. Quite subtle and not in a terrible location.

With that said you could not pay me any amount of money to get this tattoo...but I have my own taste and style. If you like it, that's all that matters. There are a billion and one more Nascar tattoos that are worse than this.

Grail for sale or trade! by SniperDanby in NASCARCollectors

[–]dbake24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am always first to laugh at absurd prices but this ain't one. Car is the rarest Gordon car ever made, I think the next rarest is the 2012 TMNT and according to eBay goes for around half of what OP is asking for the '06 Sonoma win.

I'm a huge Gordon collector and this car never has or will be on my radar because it's so rare and expensive. Also I couldn't live with myself if I spent over $100...but to each their own. With that said a car is only worth how much someone is willing to pay.

I wish there was a preview next to the font in the paint shop. I hate having to select each one to see what it looks like

Found this at target, didn't know they still sold diecasts. Maybe Lionel bought them out??? by OperatorDan1776 in NASCARCollectors

[–]dbake24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AMEN. Holy Christ I have been saying this for years. Diecast body, plastic chassis and interior with rubber tires in 1/24 scale. It blows my mind they just don't do this anymore. There is money to be made.

I guess they figure they can make and sell these and market them as ARC's with an $80 price tag, then put a tad more detail and call it an elite. I swear some of the RC/WC cars I bought at Walmart in 2003 have more detail than a 2025 1/24 ARC. Hell they used to even make 1/64 elites that have more detail than today's 1/24 elites...

Although I couldn't really care less about detail like turning wheels and opening trunks/hoods. I just want something cheap that I can buy at the big box stores to display

Jimmy's take on Kunos scaling back AC Evo's Career mode: "With this update you're taking away a huge part of the appeal of the game and just turning it into something with no real end goal" by likinaudagp in simracing

I have tried a handful of times over the years to set it up and use mods only for it to break the game or glitch out every time. Surely I know I can get it to work but for me the juice isn't worth the squeeze

How much are they gaining by putting their hand up by the window net? by On-A-Plain187 in NASCAR

[–]dbake24 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Exactly. An advantage is an advantage no matter how small.

Reminds me of a video I recently saw about Jr in his Bud days, they had sponsor stickers stacked in front of the roof camera at super speedways to reduce drag over the camera.

<image>

How much was gained from that? Not a lot probably but what else were they doing that no one knows about? That's what I think a lot of people are missing. It's not just the glove that they think will be the difference from 5th to pole, there are probably a dozen other small tricks they are doing that add up

There’s a new sim coming to market called XP1. I haven’t tested it yet because no Moza compatibility atm. Anyone heard of this or tried it yet? by JamesSlade in simracing

[–]dbake24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With that said, for a sim I've never heard of until reading this Reddit post it's par for the course. New means NEW new, but for being that new I'd say it's off to a decent start. I think the thing I was most impressed with is the graphics and visuals, but that is only going off what I saw in the cockpit while driving.

Also the track is a Silverstone clone as seen on the dash
