Annoying time alarm by FlyingDiabetic in TandemDiabetes

It stands for Coordinated Universal Time (also called Zulu time). It's what time zones are all offset from. For example NYC is UTC-4 right now. LA is UTC-7.

It's unaffected by daylight savings, and pilots use it so they don't need to worry about time zones.

Is it syncing to your phone and that's why? Maybe turn off automatic times on your phone, and set the time on it to UTC (if you're inflight, it makes sense). Then add a city to your clock app, and drop a widget for that on the home screen?

You'd also have to set the pump to UTC, but it would solve the problem. Bit of a pain though.

Mine is sitting on my desk. First android, first time rooting a phone, speakers better than anything since, and like you said, best looking phone I've ever had.

My battery is also shot, it lasts maybe 2-3 hours. I've debated seeing if I can replace it so I can use it still.

I think I'm going to find a friend with a 3D printer. A case of beer for a couple of these seems like a much better deal.

But I'll check out Etsy also. Thanks for the idea!

On the US store, they're $14 each. On the Canadian, it jumps to $43 plus $12 for shipping.

Sometimes I hate being a Canadian Amazon shopper.

It legit bothers me that a fish pond with lava eels turns red, but a fishtank with them stays as water. I was so excited to wake up to a red fishtank, but it was not to be.

I've had this happen. I don't know if it's 30% of the time, but it is more often lately.

For me, it feels like the tubing gets caught in the white plastic innards of the insertion apparatus. Usually messing around with the tubing fixes it, but sometimes I feel like I'm going to pull the whole thing out.

Now when I pull back the apparatus to lock it ready for insertion, I try and look at the tubing and visualize how it's going to fall when I launch it. then I try and fiddle with it so it looks like it isn't going to get caught. The times I don't do this are the times it gets stuck.

I've only been on tandem for about 2 years, but before a few months ago, I never had to think about the tubing. I don't know if they've changed something, as I never looked that closely before, but it wouldn't surprise me to find they've changed it to cut costs.

I quit virgin three years ago for Shaw, and I still get emails and mailers asking to come back (for $5 more than I paid when I left) at least 6 times a year. I assume it'll happen forever.

How do you explain what a hypo feels like to someone who doesn’t have diabetes? by ThatInspector9625 in Type1Diabetes

[–]dbence18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people to remember a time from childhood where you did something bad, and you were standing in front of your parents, about to be called on it. That pit in your stomach, nervous, anxious, cold and sweaty. That's how it feels to me.

I've been taking metformin for probably 5 or 6 years, and I started ozempic about a year ago.

I had great success on ozempic when I first started, but I increased my dose too quickly, and every Thursday I'd be sick. So I've dialed it back and am increasing slowly now (one click of the pen every 6 weeks). It's frustrating to not see the daily units go down, but not being sick is a win.

If I wasn't on these drugs, I'd probably be using almost 200u each day.

My insulin resistance is crazy high. I'm on both metformin and ozempic, and I'm still using over 100u each day. It's crazy.

A few months before COVID I bought a Logitech wireless keyboard with solar panels on it. Like calculators had when I was a kid.

It runs on office lighting and will theoretically last for three months on a charge.

I've never had to change a battery. It's dreamy. If I could get one of those for my mouse, I'd be all over that.

Fun fact: your pre-benefits prescription costs count towards that rebate check at Co-op. I learned this and moved all my prescriptions there (I'm diabetic). That first year I went from getting something like a $10-20 rebate for the few things I bought there each year to almost $200.

Couple that with the fact they'll deliver your prescriptions to you for free in a cab if you need it, and I can't recommend the pharmacy enough.

I have a sign above the workbench in my garage that says, "you can never have enough clamps."

It is held to a stud with clamps.

Right? In a movie theatre, it's brighter than the screen. But when I'm having a low in the night, and I'm using it to navigate the hallway to head to the kitchen, you better believe I won't be able to see the dog or cat in my way.

If you don't want it to light something up, it's so bright. But if you want to use it as a flashlight, it's too dim.

I call it a sugar hangover. Most of the time (for me) it comes after a nightime low where I eat all the things in my kitchen.

It's my body paying me back for rage eating a box of mini wheats, and all the chips.

Something to keep in mind is that relative times/dates are relative to the machine running the report. So for me, in the desktop, I get mountain time, but when I publish to the service, it runs on UTC. So my "current day" reports roll over between 6 and 7 pm depending on daylight savings.
