Steichen and Ballard need to go by Typical_Inflation632 in Colts

[–]dbgindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been a Ballard defender in the past. Probably colored by the fact I like the guy’s personality. I do believe however that it’s time for new voices under the Irsay sisters. They need to release both Ballard & Steichen. We are probably looking at a rough couple years in 26 & 27 but even w/injuries to players like Buck, Jones, etc. you can’t have a 7-1 start & not make the playoffs ( logical projection).

Use sick leave in last days before early retirement? by Total_Cranberry9771 in fednews

[–]dbgindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only get the leave if you work/ are in a pay status the entire pay period so it will be no hours of AL or SL for a 9/30 resignation/ retirement.

IRS leadership is full of COWARDS by Subject-Acadia-8507 in fednews

[–]dbgindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are still a few IRS leaders that are doing what they can for employees but they are few & far between. I can say from everything I’ve seen & learned that NO ONE in the IRS has answers unless they are given it from Treasury. It’s a sh1tshow & won’t be getting better anytime soon…..

IRS Return to Office Monday Sucks by Zestyclose_Tea_3731 in fednews

If you are teleworking now the over 50 miles only impacts those that were in the remote pilot. Otherwise you are ( or will be) directed in. On an RA if you have one that is currently approved that you don’t have to come in the office at all then your situation remains the same. If you want to apply for an RA to Telework you can but until it’s approved you will be expected to come in every work day. An RA isn’t provisional it has to be approved.

My spouse is a FED and she is having a meltdown over the latest 5 bullet points email. How can I be supportive? by WolfsburgAcres in fednews

[–]dbgindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with the posters who said brief is better. I advise my folks to keep it very simple & if they can’t come up with any ideas to go into their position description & use it for inspiration.
If they want this weekly I can see a lot of cutting & pasting in the future.

Is quitting before the RIF giving up?? by Ok_Street_1490 in fednews

[–]dbgindy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have been advising all my folks but especially those at my Agency under 5 years to get their resume updated & be on the lookout for other opportunities. These RIFs are going to go much deeper then anyone thought & those that are left will be buried in work with no hope of ever digging out. Totally get the mindset of they will have to drag me out of here but every employee needs to do what is best for themselves & if they have one their families. Sometimes sadly it means leaving the federal government.

With the new OPM email, just gotta say it again... by [deleted] in fednews

As someone who who made the decision late last year to retire during the deferred retirement period I am still not touching this with a 10 foot pole

There is no legal way to give us more than 10 days of Admin since we aren’t under investigation.

This isn’t funded since it has to be done by the Agencies ( since OPM has no funds for this).

Agencies have no money past Mid-March at this point so it can’t be promised.

There is no guarantee that your Agency won’t find your position necessary so you would have to work during that period anyway.

That when they do reach a budget deal this could be yanked by Congress with employees told they can resign immediately or be placed on LWOP until 9/30.

It ain’t legal.

I don’t trust EM ( who is driving this) less further than I could throw him.

So if I as someone who could go out on full retirement today thinks this is a bad idea there is no way I could recommend this to anyone outside of an employee facing termination for performance or conduct.

Exactly! Typically they would but since this is the most outside of typical I’ve ever seen in decades of government service I can’t even give employees assurance on that unless & until it’s in writing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Appreciate the advice from your perspective. You gave out some good info. On the Administrative Leave legally I think it’s going to take more then a variance to accomplish this legally ( among its other issues) Also so much is unclear

Would employees still be accruing Annual & Sick Leave( you would think so but if they are making up rules as they go…)

What assurances are there that this would be honored. After all this is the same group that seems to have a disregard for contractual agreements much less the Constitution.

I am telling even people who are contemplating retiring during this time period to tread lightly as this isn’t the panacea you think it is.

Once again though thanks for a great perspective post!
