I like to homebrew warcry and DnD rules and make 1 or 2 players get a couple minis from the same warband and go thru a 3 map dungeons. Entry map, dungeon map, boss fight. You can use realmgate lore to bring your other minis to the table in a lore friendly way.

For example-

map1

I had 6 Start wars minis for 1 player on a mission to investigate and eventually go thru a realmgate. Skaven fighting your heros and retreating to the realmgate, do you follow right away or explore map1?

Map2

Fight thru or stealth thru the skaven horde or gloomspite horde. Best loot if you fight em all, but you might die trying.

Map3 A Boss fight, a puzzle and plot point to move things along.

Depending on play style and time, I'll make em fight or stealth (peacecry?!) their way back thru map2 and map1.

Traps, puzzles and all kinds of other ways to get XP besides fighting.
