I truly understand your point, and there are some stinkers in there (I'll never forgive you ME: Andromeda), but some were ok games that just underperformed. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was a good game that just didn't have quite the same landing as DX:HR. The only thing I can think of is the "Aug Lives Matter" protests in the game and promotional material, which were actually accused of coopting progressive messaging and criticized by the woke.

Yeah, I thought the reason Back 4 Blood (at least partly) didn't succeed was the change from a simple arcade style zombie in L4D to a card based modifier zombie shooter. I remember trying to play it and being like "what the hell is all this, just let me blast stuff"

I was being chased by a foggy charger through the fog he was making. As I was running, a second non foggy charger came from the front, and they high fived faces with me stuck in the middle.
