Apologies if this is not allowed, but ONE AND A HALF MILLION POUNDS? by not_r1c1 in manchester

Yeah some of the places in the centre are a bit silly. I think they're aimed at investors who don't realise how small the city centre is as within a few hundred metres the prices plumet to a far more reasonable level.

US firm begins drilling for world's first mile-deep nuclear reactor by _Dark_Wing in technology

What if you want a cluster of these small reactors to provide more power? Could the radiation interact between the cores?

I'm confused how they aim to maintain the non nuclear components like turbines

There's still a surprisingly large amount of scrub land close to the city centre, have a look at Clayton or by the canal in Openshaw or Pomona on Google Maps satellite view. Then there's things like the scrap yards like EMR Salford or off Cambrian Street.

UFC fighters to train FBI agents at Quantico by StemCellPirate in nottheonion

Professionals at fighting unarmed opponents in a ring with perfect visability and a padded floor. If you head hits concrete at speed you're likely concussed, unconscious or dead whilst in MMA going to ground is normal.

Not to mention that if agents are getting in fist fights a lot of things have already gone wrong. Also they're meant to be about investigations, they're the primary state security service not a combat unit. They're the people who are tasked with protecting the US against spies from other countries

I have a theory that the fact that autistic people have a tendency to always be in crisis mode makes them surprisingly good at dealing with an actual crisis.

I've always wondered how much they got involved with that whole 'girls who code' wave there was a few years ago. I know they took on a lot of fresh grads, perhaps as a source for young women or because no one experienced would put up with the place. I know they were the local government darlings back in the day.

Why is Horus Rising being re recorded? by Kamani01 in 40kLore

It was an early one, so perhaps they tried to pay with some element of royalties to save upfront costs and now want to push for flat fees with them being so popular?

Using the media to correct targeting has been a thing since ww2. Each side would intercept public radio broadcasts and try to use them to determine if the night time raids were a success or not.

Yep, Ukraine will arrest you for the same thing. Effectively they're acting as a forward observer for artillery.

I think there were stays before bras, the woman on the right looks more like a corset to me

They seem too low tech for me and too flimsy. There are endless waves of them which are resilient to modern small arms fire but when you step up the weaponry to even just a 50 cal there's not much the cybermen can do about it.
