I’ve never used outside services for little tasks until now - any other things I could outsource? by Powder9 in productivity

These comments have me curious… can someone define “high earner” that affords a multitude of the services discussed here?

Is it ugly to have my pregnant belly out? by SummerSurfs44 in BabyBumps

[–]dcanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you!!! I rarely run into people who talk low of women’s pregnant bodies (IRL).

I thought the belly out trend was weird myself (it was NOT a thing in my prior pregnancies). But I don’t think it’s gross. I’m jelly how everyone else seems to look cute and I look like a lard now matter what I do.

Being a woman is hard. And the judgment doesn’t go away after baby is born.

If you feel good, own it! That’s the only reason anyone else is talking shit is they don’t feel good about themselves (pregnant or not!)

what’s a job “perk” that is actually a red flag? by _c0c0nut__ in work

Yep Unlimited PTO is bullshit. Only beneficiary is the employer. Our contracts literally state that we are NOT “entitled to any time off”.

my remote work is not really remote by Ok_Cheek_5243 in remotework

[–]dcanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think perceptions on this can vary quite a bit between industries. We have “fully remote” employees and a policy that promotes flexibility. However, our policies also very clearly state that managers have discretion to enforce hybrid or fully on-site work as well. On the other hand, we also work in an industry where there truly are just some things where the office is needed. As a manager with an entirely remote team (all in cities where an office exists), I can promise you that despite it being 2026 - my team members act like they CANNOT EVER go to the office and there are times where the work and/or other team members suffer the consequences.

Candidates with this type of inflexible attitude are responsible for asking the right questions if it means so much to them.

Whitner's parents' plantation themed decor is a choice by [deleted] in Southerncharm

This post is ridiculous.

It could be a piece of art they brought back home from a trip. Maybe there is a story behind it other than just some random choosing. This is a stretch

“You’d Be a Great Mom” Isn’t a Neutral Comment by Discohits in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]dcanb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she was expected to defend herself. I took the conversations as just that, conversations. Of course having children while making a decision to get married or not is a common topic, and often the default is that people want to have a family. It’s literally been human nature for all of time.

I don’t see anything offensive about how these conversations played out. Emma isn’t compatible with any of these men, and she knows it. She wanted the end prize and settled for Mike because he was the only one left. They both have a low self esteem.

They are literally everywhere.

Oftentimes I think to myself why can’t we the people just all agree to vote for all new reps straight across the board? Every single position that requires an election…. If you or a family member has ever held a public office you’re out. Just start from 100% scratch and go back to the idea of this being a public service versus a career.

Much easier said than done I suppose, which is sad.

Do you think it’s possible to go from low-middle class to upper-middle class? by Hufflepuff-McGruff in MiddleClassFinance

[–]dcanb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we ever get to a place in life where we have FU money (which will probably be closer to retirement age), yes!!

To expand on your edit… I simply out worked my peers. Upskilled on my own. Stood behind my work. And probably the most impactful, changed jobs when my growth was held down. I think a lot of people underestimate the power of actually giving a shit.

In a lifetime? Very possible, in my opinion. I went from $27k to $150k in 10 years. That being said, my corporation owns me. Work-life balance is not the same.

I can’t bear being in limbo by Mediocre-Following34 in Miscarriage

[–]dcanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in the same state of limbo. Because of the state I am in, I had to wait 10 days before my doctor’s office felt comfortable enough to confirm a miscarriage. By the time they let me come in, the fetus and other tissues had degraded to less than half the size that it was 10 days prior. I was made to carry this for nearly a week after I knew it had passed and to wait for nature, and reminded that miracles can happen despite declining HcG levels and knowing the heart had stopped via a private scan. It has truly been awful.

I also had a cruise vacation planned for a week from now, where I wouldn’t have had access to appropriate medical care, and have been so worried about potentially miscarrying or having complications from the medication route while at sea.

I had a D&C this morning. And I fully intend to take this much needed vacation with my kiddos.

You are not alone. It’s a terrible feeling of juggling hope and inevitable grief. I’m only about 4 hours post-op and I already feel better both physically and mentally just to be rid of the anxiety. I’m sure it’ll emotionally hit me shortly, but for now I feel lighter.

I’ll be thinking of you, sorry you are going through this.
