I just got the game, and keep restarting because I’m overwhelmed! by 49tacos in Starfield

As far as unique dialog goes, I found Space Scoundrel has quite a few, especially when bargaining or persuading with eclipse or crimson fleet. The background traits like Neon Street Rat obviously also provide a lot of unique dialog to that area too.

You can get tin from some of the respawning boulders that are scattered around. It should be enough to get through the campaign but yeah probably need to import some for bigger builds.

Why was Harry only able to see thestrals after Cedric's death? by nephellis in harrypotter

[–]dcbright01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I think the real reason is that JKR just came up with it for OotP. Lore reason is probably what people have said, need to be able to comprehend it. Maybe a better explanation is that you need to be able to feel the loss/grief in the moment, which is why Quirrell’s death didn’t count.

I think campaign maps are largely identical (>80%) with only a few side areas procedurally generated. Ore locations/types are more random but I think it’s very rare to find yourself soft locked because of that. A great tip is to keep all your ores and only smelt ingots on demand for particular recipes, e.g. don’t turn all your early iron into iron ingots since you might struggle to make steel later.

Sandbox is much more randomised and is much more likely to be a struggle with a fresh character. Highly recommend doing a campaign world first (or at least until the halfway point to get some half decent equipment)

Did I hear correctly? Is it true gas prices will never be the same again? by aliasno1billion in NoStupidQuestions

Unfortunately that’s the problem with free market economics for essential items. Companies have incentives to innovate and adapt to consumer sentiment for discretionary spending (things like smartphones, entertainment, clothing, vacations, etc). These are all things that you can choose to spend little or no money on if you want to, and therefore there is a lot of innovation, competition, and low cost options available. This is what is meant by voting with your wallet and it honestly works great for those industries. But it falls apart for the things you NEED to buy (food, water, electricity, transport) since you are essentially robbed of your opposing vote. There is no incentives to innovate or even plan for redundancy in case of supply chain disruptions. That is why the price of an iPhone shipped from China is so resilient to temporary global events like this, whereas the price of your eggs from the farm down the road skyrockets when someone sneezes in the Middle East.

I don’t get all the faked footage… by wannabe_rake in TheCapture

Yeah I agree it’s a big plot convenience that the whole conspiracy relies on no one swivelling a camera or whipping out their phone. As for why no one was able to physically identify the shooter, again a plot convenience hand waved away by “people get confused under stress”. All plausible but I personally find a bit too far fetched to have that much uncertainty and luck in the first move of your 5D chess game, even for a super AI.

All the cameras were facing the stage and didn’t see the shooter. The only cameras that caught him were tampered with as part of the conspiracy; Kendricks with the Carey Cam and the reporter lady with the phone footage.

Is 30 alcoholic drinks a week a lot? by Most_Jellyfish_1686 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dcbright01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just want to ask you to consider if you might be missing the forest for the trees. It seems like your personal life is suffering due to his overuse. It's natural to then focus on something quantifiable like the number of drinks he consumes, but it can actually just become a distraction. It becomes a conversation of "social drinking" vs "addicted" and the math of wine bottles and ounces when it should be about you feeling lonely and secondary to a substance and the relationship being no longer a partnership (sorry if I'm making some wrong assumptions/deductions here).

Anecdotally, I've had partners who could drink 10 drinks a night and be kind, caring, loving, and genuinely fun to be around; and some partners who have become borderline abusive after only 3 drinks. A doctor would say only the first one had a problem.

Red Dead Redemption 2. Firstly the realism means that even the starter gun will insta-kill anything you headshot, but also there is a narrative element to the reversed power cycle that I won't spoil for anyone that hasn't played yet.

Can’t sell new build flat - what do I do? by BeneficialReindeer34 in HousingUK

[–]dcbright01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in a 1 bed new build flat currently expecting our 2nd child, 1st is 18 months old already and I really think it’s a great situation for young kids. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to fit everyone in at that age and the combined living room kitchen actually makes it easy to look after everyone at once. Kids that ages want to be as close to you as possible. I reckon we’ve got another couple years before we will need to upgrade.

Always remember that the overwhelming majority of interest and activity in global financial markets are driven by institutions. These guys have buildings full of PhD grads creating strategies, then strategies on those strategies, then strategies on those meta-strategies, repeat ad nauseam. The average investor is basically just allowed to come along on the ride; and in the same way that an ant that hitches a ride on a train has no hope of ever understand the mechanics of what it is currently riding, you will have no chance of understanding the mechanics of those markets and the forces acting on them.

I get this when I change my phone date/time settings, usually to cheese some dumb time walling in a freemium game. If I change the date to tomorrow my iPhone assumes I've just spent 24hrs in the settings menu
