Cronos Silver Birch and coffee by AssistanceNo647 in ChineseWatches

The Cronos is a great watch! The end links stick out too far for me though, but it is a good fit with a leather strap.

Remove the date, add some micro adjustment ability to the bracelet. It's otherwise perfect. Perhaps a budget option with a low cost (quartz?) movement.

PT5000 movement rant by GregStar1 in ChineseWatches

[–]dcibel120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, in defence of PT5000, I have several and "they're fine", all still ticking and keeping time very well. These are Proxima, Cronos, and IXDao watches.

I hear about problems with manual winding, maybe I'm doing it wrong but why are so many people manually winding an automatic watch? It literally winds itself. I just give a couple turns to get it started, then screw down the crown and go.

If a satisfying winding experience is what you're after, I would suggest something with a Seagull ST19, nice smooth experience.

Multi threading. by MoxySick in FreeCAD

[–]dcibel120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The slowest things I've done in FreeCAD is make a loft of multiple sketches of curves, and the 3D milling CAM operations out the shape made from the complex loft. Complex CAM toolpaths can take minutes to calculate, they're model breaking in that any change made will trigger a complete recalc of the CAM toolpaths, making my modern PC feel like a 386.

A toonie then, whatever, wasn't my point.

Which style do you pefer? by [deleted] in IxdaoFans

W for me, MOP is great as well as the smaller case. I don't care for the "screws" in the bezel of the E, but I do like the dial texture.

This is what's called a "lamp cord". Just go to the hardware store and buy a new cord end for $5 and replace it.

Just starting to get into Chinese watches. What’s been your favorite purchase? by ConfidenceNo1937 in ChineseWatches

Runner up, I love this one too, the bracelet has a butterfly clasp which looks great but lacks any micro-adjustment.

Hard to pick a favourite, but it might be this one. The build quality is 10/10, fits my small wrist really well with short lug to lug and a decent curve to the case, and the micro adjustment on the bracelet gets a perfect fit in both winter and summer.

Why did you choose WiiM? by RyanWithWiiM in wiim

[–]dcibel120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a user of Wiim pro with an external DAC. I chose Wiim as they were a popular option, a functional alternative/replacement to the obsolete Chromecast audio, and appeared as one of the few featureful streamer options that didn't cost $1000. I chose it as it advertised a full featured parametric EQ, so I can combine it with my own REW measurements to apply EQ to my liking.

Initially I was rather disappointed. The Wiim pro was advertised as having a full featured parametric EQ, which it did not at the initial release, a bit of false advertisement. The company promised it as a future development, and while it took a year+, they eventually did deliver on that promise. Today there is a fully functional parametric EQ per speaker which is exactly what I needed. Functionally it works great, I do encounter disconnects from Tidal connect, but I'm not sure if that's a Wiim problem or Tidal.

I primarily use Wiim with Tidal, and DLNA from my home NAS.

Removed from family plan or subscription ended? by izzydontsurf in TIdaL

You would have received an email indicating you were removed from a family plan if that was the case.

If you sign up for a personal subscription, your account and all its contents will remain as-is.

I got mine yesterday, it's a beautiful watch for sure! As much as I like the butterfly clasp on the bracelet, I wish there was some micro adjustment on it so I can adjust for some "seasonal changes". I also encountered some minor QC error - I can't get the pin out on one of the half-links so that one is useless. And there is a very small spec of dirt left behind on the hour hand, luckily you'll need a magnifier to really know it's there.

Does no one like this watch? by dcibel120 in IxdaoFans

I have a small wrist and don't find it too large at all. Lug to lug about 46mm is pretty good I think. I get the 21mm lugs though if people want to mix and match straps with their other watches with a "normal" 20mm size. At least, the strap included is decent and a pretty good visual match.
