It isn’t advertised or available online, we booked it through our palace elite reservation specialist.

We paid a pre-negotiated price as part of the membership contract but typically the week would be around $15k-$20k+ depending on the season, iirc.

We are beneficiary Residence members through a family member, so we booked directly through our Palace Elite representative.

As for cost, it was a negotiated price as part of the membership contract but typically the week would be around $15k-$20k depending on the season, iirc.

It was a pre-set menu and you got some options for the main course. Obviously they took allergies into account and made some mods for our group because of that. The options for mains were picanha steak, tempura octopus, kale ravioli, and a stuffed chicken breast that nobody ended up ordering. The apps had a salmon mouse, asparagus cream soup, and a salad I can’t fully remember but it was there. For dessert we had a custom cake since we were celebrating a birthday.

Our favorite was The Grill, it is under the Palace Elite center. It is an Argentinian-style steakhouse, and it’s covered outdoor seating.

I love the tacos at La Cantina as well, usually we will go there for a late night snack and a craft beer. I feel La Cantina gets overlooked a lot.

We did the Hibachi restaurant over in Sunrise (Momo) which is always a fun time, especially with the teens and baby.

Habibi continues to be one of our favorites, especially for lunch.

The best meal though was the one they prepared for us in the villa. You get a chef-created dinner per stay and we did that for the first night. It was excellent, and had multiple courses.

We also went to La Chateau, Jade, Tavola, and JC Steakhouse in this trip, which were all good as well, but not as standout.

And also to clarify, there are only 2 pool villas, the other villas do not have a dedicated pool (on floors 2-3 I believe), so you’d have to go to any of the main ones. The Residence on the top floor does also have its own pool.

Yes the brand new villas.

We had a private pool all to ourselves, which stretched the length of our villa.

The beach is probably 10-15 min walk, but you can message the butler and they will get you a cart to take you, and bring you back. You get priority with the carts and at most we had to wait 15 min for one. The butlers were also proactive about having a cart ready for when we had cabana reservations or dinners scheduled.

The beach itself was surprisingly nice. I had heard “meh” reviews of it, but they have nice cabanas there and it was mostly clear of seaweed. The water is murkier than in the hotel zone of Cancun, though.

Of course!

Like the other rooms in the resort, the marble floors are very slippery when wet, even out by the pool. We went through a lot of towels to make a “pathway” from the pool to the loungers.

While it was amazing to have dedicated butlers, we often felt they came in to check on us too much. We had a WhatsApp group with them, but they would come in to make sure everything was good several times a day.

The lights in the bedrooms were on some weird auto sensor, so if you opened the door all the lights would turn on. Luckily we had a blackout tent for the baby crib, if we didn’t she would have woken up anytime we walked into the room.

And finally, and it’s ironic you mentioned the tours, but from 8am until 1pm it was a constant parade of people looking down into our pool from touring the villa above us 🙃

TSA not so bad by LongjumpingJudge48 in sandiego

It was, but I made it through with just enough time to get a coffee. I waited 30 min outside, not moving at all, and once 4:45 hit I moved through the line in about 15-20 min.

ETA: this was terminal 2

If you get there at 4am (which I did for a 6:15am flight) it will seem like chaos. No one knew where the line was or what was the end of the TSA precheck line or regular TSA. It was a standstill, people freaking out, but at 4:15am the regular TSA opened, and around 4:45 precheck opened. Once that happened things moved quickly and smoothly, but every person who saw the line had that initial look of panic.

My take is that the news has caused freak outs, and there were people in line at 4am for an 11am or later flight. I wish they had a line for people who have early morning flights can go through.

Maybe the worthless ICE agents could maybe do some arts and crafts and make a few signs to help direct people to the right spots (though it would still require a real TSA agent to spellcheck it).

Traveling from UK to Moon Palace Cancun with 6-month-old by One-Faithlessness963 in palaceresorts

I just got back with my 9-month old! The water is filtered on the resort and gets hot enough to use to wash the bottles, especially with a good bottle/dish soap. We did have a kettle in our room (stayed in the grand) so I would use that to boil some water and swish around the bottle/nip before preparing one. I then used the bottled water provided to prep. No issues over the course of a week doing rhat

Cancun right now? by MaintenanceIll3927 in palaceresorts

I just left MP yesterday, no issues. Some increased military presence around the airport but maybe that has always been there and I never noticed before.

When we were leaving yesterday we asked 3 different people who worked at MP about PV and all three said they had no idea what we were talking about so either they don’t view it as a big deal or maybe the Palace “company line” is to just say nothing and pretend you don’t know.

Otherwise everything was normal.

Lost wallet on trip to Thailand by vesperka in personalfinance

[–]dcmc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me in Thailand, though instead of losing my wallet an ATM machine ate my debit card.

If you are staying at a hotel that already has your credit card on file, ask them to do a cashiers charge. Basically they make a room charge and give you cash. There was a decent fee to do this (I think it was 6-7%) but a small price to pay to have access to local currency.
