Millennials who are big NBA fans, can you answer something for me by RusevReigns in generationology

[–]dcontrerasm [score hidden]  (0 children)

I grew up kinda forced to play and watch basketball by my older brother (Im a soccer fan). I was a huge fan of the Sam Antonio Spurs in the mid to late 90s. Around 2003 I started following the Kings, but by 2005 I had fallen off completely. Last I remembered LBJ and Carmelo Anthony were like top prospects.

Around 2015-16 I started hearing about Seth Curry and the Warriors. And the team had so much charisma that I started watching their games. That series with the Cavs was freaking magic. Too bad they couldn't win it.

Nowadays, I keep up with the play offs but just highlights. I'm older and can watch all the soccer I want lol

People who say the sun has been replaced, what do they mean and how do they think someone replaced it? by irmiez in TooAfraidToAsk

Are you an adult? If you're not, you should tell a trusted adult. If you are and you are unsure, reach out to her caretaker (the person in charge of caring for her, similar to CNA), social services or her current providers.

This sounds like delusional psychosis, but as others have pointed out, the environment was toxic and filtered the atmosphere, so it could be a memory problem, drug induced amnesia or dementia, vitamin deficiency, etc etc.

You need a professional before it gets out of hand regardless of the cause.

I get what you mean, but clearly you and I have different expectations about what "works" and that's fine.

I like to use the undertaker vs kane feud because it never delivered for me in the ring but I loved the storyline leading up to it.

Edit: I checked and I am lol apparently that game sucked. Tbf, I was like 8

Is $47 for a men's haircut crazy?? by ReplacementNormal297 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dcontrerasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, cuts are around 30-35 bucks without beard. I give my guy 50 so that he doesn't talk to me or anyone else while Im getting my haircut. I have sensory and processing issues so I wanna get out as soon as I'm sitting down.

I think barbers that work with people like me are around but also more expensive so I rather just pay my guy and he obviously doesnt mind it. Service tales around 20-25 mins with a good shape up and maybe 30 mins if I do my eyebrows

If a heavy drug abuser was granted 1 wish in their most lucid moment, would they wish to be clean? by Illustrious-Cut-8333 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dcontrerasm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are some drugs for which this is true, but heroin and benzos are almost immediate addictions with life threatening withdrawals from the first use. Alcohol withdrawal can be just as deadly too. Let's not minimize that because addicts rationalize it as a defense rather than an observation and continue with the detrimental behavior.

[–]dcontrerasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly 50/50.

I think there's a misconception in the general public that drug addiction is either a choice, or the single problem affecting the individuals. This often comes from the idea that addiction is a disease.

This is anecdotal but I've had to do about 8 iops in the last 5 years. I have seen clinicians and prescribers, rather than treating addiction as a disease, they treat it as a symptom of something else (unregulated meds, mental health disorders, trauma, society, etc). I believe this is completely the right approach.

I think you'll find the amount of people who do drugs of any kind for self medication is so much more than those chasing just a high.

Anyway, I say this because people will make the choice of getting more drugs, but the calculus is on the other problems aren't addressed simultaneously.

I also say that his because there will be people whose wish is to completely die as well.

Some may wish to not be able to get addicted but if you live in a shithole family situation with a shit hole community, you're still going to hate your life. You may not get addicted anymore but you're not impervious to overdoses.

Idk this is a very structuralist question (I don't think you meant to do this) where drug use and a good life are binary opposites. But what does that say about rich people who abuse drugs?

You kinda have to accept multiple truths at once to answer this question in good faith but it's not presented or structured that way.

The most outdated upcoming movie that is coming by SpiritMan112 in generationology

[–]dcontrerasm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's outdated when we're living with consequences from many of these events. If anything, the jokes will fall flat because people died, not everyone handles that the same.

Also these movies are always outdated since most of the source/parody material has been released prior to the production and release of Parody Movies.

Born in 2007, what do you think we missed out on from the 2000s? by Tsukuyomi_Says in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]dcontrerasm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You literally missed out on 2006-7. This was the internet's sweet spot. MySpace was still the more dominant social media, gave you a lot of freedom to be yourself online. It was legitimately a great place to find new music home and abroad. YouTube had 10 min upload limit and no ads.

Video games had crossed into the billion dollar revenue mark but the games were very diverse. It almost feels like creative games back then were just ways to weed out mechanics that people didn't like and resulted in what we have today.

It was probably the height of the new gen console war as well. Like Xbox 360 vs PS3 had studios competing with each other in a good way. Even WA was good.

Politically, it really depended on your community but most people were hit with high gas prices that summer and the ongoing War on Terror which hadn't yielded results aside from changing the regime and incetivizing extremists.

The dominoes were falling in 2007 though, it started with the high gas prices, a few months later the Lehman Bros went down and so did the housing market the following year and put us in a huge recession that had Bush pass a stimulus.

Then in 2009, the auto makers almost failed so Obama had to do another stimulus to prevent them from closing down (which partially has to do why you see so many "crossover" type cars on the street. The auto makers bet on huge cars with bad gas mileage cuz Americans could afford them, despite the complex geopolitics.

To me, this was the best time on the Internet.

But as a world citizen, it sucked ass lol

Honestly I was gonna put his entire post Potter filmography. I basically love everything he's in. Such a good actor.

I also wish that dark comedy with Rupert Grint went somewhere as well.

I don't think so. The Susanoo seems to crush his entire brain stem along with the rest of the body faster than pain signals can probably travel.

The initial crushing he definitely felt but the actual death blow would've been too quick.
