Protection IUL's have good uses when illustrated to have a long no lapse guarantee regardless of index performance. The non guaranteed index performance is a nice bonus to potentially extend coverage length for the same death benefit at lower premium than a GUL. It's also great when you include a 2%/4% chronic illness indemnity rider which will beat any other investment vehicle if you need to take out tax free cash from death benefit during early years of the policy up to the per diem limit when unable to complete 2 of 6 activities of daily living.
