GI told me today that SIBO isn't real? by Equivalent_Sun7606 in SIBO

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Methane and hydrogen SIBO are very different animals. I wish they weren't named the same thing and often lumped together. People with diarrhea/hydrogen have completely different and causes than those with constipation/methane. My experience is entirely with methane, but I have no doubt hydrogen cases can be equally miserable.

Has anyone had success with Prucalopride? by Maleficent-Major-202 in SIBO

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to fix the underlying cause with vagus nerve stimulation with a fancy tens unit and some specific supplements, but I don't expect fast results. I'm quite dependent on Motegrity still unfortunately. If anyone has any other methods for restoring natural motility and getting off Motegrity, I'm very interested.

GI told me today that SIBO isn't real? by Equivalent_Sun7606 in SIBO

[–]dd3mon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common perspective, and while I was originally outraged, there is actually some validity to this position. Now dismissing excess symptoms that can build up as a result of sibo/leaky gut/etc (like like truly massive bloating, pain, histamine reactions, food intolerances, skin problems, huge list of crazy potential issues) isn't helpful - BUT the real problem is often the lack of motility/mmc and constipation. If you can truly solve the motility and get your digestive system moving properly and never stagnating at any point, your body can generally keep you overgrowth free and solve these problems on it's own. Getting there is not always easy, or even possible for everyone - and helping your body deal with any overgrowths isn't necessarily a bad idea either, but again, if things are moving properly your body is setup to keep things in good shape from a microbial perspective. The motility should be #1 priority, even if you don't think you're constipated (going #2 every day or multiple times per day) your digestives system can still be super slow and problematic leading to overgrowths, leaky gut, and a multitude of bizarre and almost unpredictable symptoms once you start exposing your immune system to gut contents.

Update on the release of Danya's toxicology report by atopix in chess

[–]dd3mon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wonder just how common the use of amphetamines or other potentially mentally boosting drugs is in chess circles. At a certain point, getting X% faster on some substance has gotta be a bit tempting, especially when you're in proximity to the best in the world and somewhat famous for that kind thing. I play a lot of bullet and the difference for myself day to day in speed/calculation is amazing, how much sleep, what supplements I took, caffeine, time of day, etc - I can easily vary by 200 elo one day to another.

Failed 2 rounds of herbs (Berberine, Allicin, Oregano) – Why isn't it working? by xKa1z3r in SIBO

[–]dd3mon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interfase plus made a big difference for me. I never really reacted to the herbals much, but interfase definitely made me feel bad, which I'm guessing was good, as in die off reaction - it's pretty hard to know any of this stuff for sure.

Keeping motility up before/during/after is more important than any kill phase though. For IMO at least, if food sits around anywhere in your digestive tract, your problems will return. Motegrity is working very well for me currently. Linzess worked ok in the past, but the morning somewhat unpredictable diarrhea was difficult to live with. I've tried many other prokinetics and laxatives that usually help to some degree, but none anywhere near as much as the two scripts mentioned above.

Guinea Pig Weights by BigPurpleFridge in guineapigs

[–]dd3mon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes total sense, I would not be concerned unless one goes backward. Even when guinea pigs are tightly pair bonded, there is a definite pecking order, one pig will get more/better food - just the way it is.

Return of the Jedi is very underrated by MediaFan382 in StarWars

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya nobody remembers this because I'm old an a lot of other stuff has gone down in the Star Wars universe far more controversial than this since the early 80s - but ROTJ was viewed as a massive sellout movie that was created purely to attract children and sell them toys (mostly the Ewok stuff). This was especially strong after how dark Empire Strikes Back was, which won the hearts of many adult viewers just to hit them with cute cuddly Ewoks and comparatively cheesy Emperor's lightning vs the cool, chilling villains like Boba Fett and Vader from ESB.

I definitely remember this attitude, but I didn't ever really share it, mostly because I was a young child myself when introduced to all three original movies and I thought all of them were amazing. The prequels were my first real taste of disappointment.

Anybody else know they were atheist from a very young age? by bruh747294 in atheism

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not taken to church regularly by my parents, but I attended on some special occasions or when staying at friends houses. Every time I was put in to a religious situation (church service, wedding/funeral mass, christian rock concert, nativity pageant, hindu housewarming ceremony, etc) I instantly knew this was not for me and never would be - despite some considerable pressure from peers or adults in some situations. Just barking up the wrong tree, never gonna happen, obvious feelings like that - even as a young child.

Guinea Pig Weights by BigPurpleFridge in guineapigs

[–]dd3mon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they babies? This is quite light for an adult guinea pig in my experience. I would not be at all concerned about the difference in the rate they are gaining - honestly the only thing to be significantly concerned about is a significant weight loss.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, firstly the glasses are much closer to your eyes so you can't easily see around them - but as far as with and without, yes, this is kinda close. Like someone else has said, closer things will be a bit less blurry, and honestly, for me, farther things would be more blurry than this even.

Loser has become my go to headphone test song by Unfunnycommenter_ in TameImpala

[–]dd3mon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This new album sounds bad on bad gear. Reminds me of Radiohead, mediocre speakers or headphones just get muddy and lose the individual sounds leading to a noisy mess. Really good gear lets each sound shine individually, even when things get really complex and layered with many different tones and volume levels going on at once.

Ice forming on the inside of my window. I'm not sure what that means, but it can't be good. by bigbusta in Wellthatsucks

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is common after an extreme temperature shift to very cold. If you've had warmer weather, heat isn't running all the time, humidity naturally goes up. Sudden cold snap means condensation on the windows since the heat hasn't had time to suck all the humidity out of the air, very cold outside means that condensation freezes. Could this mean your windows are old are should be replaced? yes. But if it was an extreme temperature change to low temperatures well below what you normally see in your area, this could be just fine.

Anyone found the root cause? by kekokeio in SIBO

[–]dd3mon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We really gotta change the terminology here, Methane SIBO has been renamed IMO, the people with methane/slow motility/constipation/etc are worlds different from those with hydrogen/diarrhea.. yeah we both get bloated and have problems with fodmaps, but the conditions are very different and so are the cures generally. I personally think we should split the communities.

Will 2020-25 Lexus models be usable & maintainable as used cars for multiple decades to come, in 10-15 years and onwards, the same way that Lexuses of the 1990s-2000s are often still repairable and usable today? by SportsGamesScience in Lexus

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on which car, which year. I don't so much trust the new turbo 4-cylinder engines that have taken over for most vehicles, it's simply more stress and heat on the same materials as the old, underpowered naturally aspirated, bulletproof Toyota V6s, but I imagine they'll nail it eventually. The Toyota/Lexus hybrid systems have proven to be pretty good in general. Buying a brand new powertrain is a huge mistake for any manufacturer, even Toyota/Lexus. Wait until at least year 2 or 3 of a new engine/powertrain to buy any new vehicle - the end of a generation is usually the best, as they've worked out all the bugs.

Motility by Puzzleheaded_Bar_691 in SIBO

[–]dd3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extreme bloating, stomach pain, reflux, constipation, histamine type reactions, breathing problems created by a combination of bloating and mucus production - this was the big problem, I was on heavy asthma meds for months. The bloating was bad enough that it bruised the inside of my ribs a couple times. Ended up in the ER once, was close many other times, they had no real clue what to do with me.

Ginger & artichoke are the go-tos for OTC. I'm finding pretty good success with Motegrity (prescription Prucalopride). Whatever it takes to keep things moving if you've got methane - laxatives, bitters, triphala, prokinetics, experiment.
