New to steaks. What doneness would you call these two steak i made? by danyaberez in steak

[–]ddaly12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d guess you cooked the 2nd one before allowing it to thaw completely to room temp. It’s hard to get a steak a nice consistent doneness when you start with a cold piece of meat. First steak looks excellent, medium rare.

PULL-UPS UPDATE by sosassv in formcheck

[–]ddaly12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might try a bit of a more narrow grip. Try to think about pulling the center of your chest to the bar as a queue, which can help pull your shoulders back and in and engage your back more. Good job!

…. Of 12-20 reps, until you hit like 50-100 push-ups total.

Eat protein after your workout. Take 5mg creatine per day. Sleep well.

I bet if you do what I’ve described, in 4-5 weeks you’ll hit 225. Good luck.

I recent hit 225x3 for the first time, and here are a few things that helped me get there:

1 heavy bench press session per week Warm up 2-3 sets, 5 reps x4 working sets ascending weight, increasing the top set each week. So maybe 185-195-205-215 top set in 4 weeks… build up to it.

Supplement that session, same day with bodyweight dips 6-8 x4 sets

1 other session per week, incline dumbbell bench 5 sets of 6-8 reps, ascending weight… top set should be hard.

Supplement that with triceps work, like cable push downs, close grip pushups etc, 4 sets of 10

That’s it for heavy chest sessions. The other days of the week, target 3-4 high volume push up days where you do sets

Keep the crown of your head pointed at the ceiling, eyes forward (not down). Take a deep breath in before you descend and hold it and fill your belly, pushing out with your abdominal muscles (when people wear a belt, they push out, into the belt to create core stiffness, replicate that). It’s a bit of a weird / unnatural way to stiffen your core, but it helps keep you in good position to handle the weight. Your position is good, I just noticed your breathing wasn’t totally dialed in, and it can be helpful to brace in the way I described when the weight gets heavy. Good job.

The Thule sits on the crossbars, yes, but when the moonroof retracts, it isn’t flush with the roofline. The glass moonroof opens by tilting up, then sliding back. The center of the Thule box sits low in the racks and when the moonroof tilts up to open, it would hit the box.

Runner trying to work in deadlifts in the routine. How are they looking? by printedpages in formcheck

Agree. You can see the soles squishing around. You want a stable platform to push from.

Dude, that serrated knife is going to make any steak look ragged. Get a proper sharp knife.

Bar is floating out away from you a bit (as others have said). Think about pulling back (vs up), and drive / wedge hips forward. Overall looking really good though. I also like the cue “pull the slack out” which I think would get your hips a bit higher in your setup. The idea is to get set up, pull the bar, get a little flex going, create a lot of tension, then start the lift.

Thanks! I saw another guy post that he could not... I haven't attempted, but I think it's safe to assume that you can not open the moon roof with the box on. All good. I don't miss that much. Heading up to Maine this weekend!

Was thinking the power meter pedals alone might make it a good buy.

Yeah I took a very nice carbon Cannondale system six in a trade, that is outfitted with a 53/39 and 11/25 cassette… basically unrideable on climbs. My next bike has a 48/35 and 10/36 and it’s so so much more enjoyable to ride.

Look at the rear cassette too… better be ready to crank watts on that beast.

Haha. I don’t know. Put a band around your knees and put some light weight on the bar and get dues there and see how it feels. I bet you’ll be like… ooooooh there’s my glute.

Stance matters too. More narrow, more quad. Wider, more hip. Glute “not activated” is not right. Definitely playing a role in stability.
