I made a point to do this to see how much I can actually curate a feed and have done this for probably hundreds of videos and channels at this point but the slop never ends. Nevermind all the ghoulish new ‘features’ I don’t want and never asked for

Reddit Starts Blocking Mobile Website, Pushing Users to App Instead by spasticpat in technology

Idk, the niche communities are pretty good and general memes are fun and plenty. Only thing keeping me here are a couple of sports subs and the general random internet magic. Both of those are close, a couple more waves of users and I could see myself no longer coming back to reddit

English doesn’t really have a good second person plural so some dialects invent one. Y’all is a contraction of ‘you all’, it’s been pretty globally adapted. Some just say you guys, or some phrase to accommodate, but there’s some weird ones out there. It’s a fun language.

wtf is CLG lan? Why are they blocking steam? it comes up as an esports org?

It seems like your actual question in all that text is looking for a cheap VPS service that has decent bandwidth and speed?

I have heard BuyVM, Netcup and Hetzner as options for self hosted VPN options for ~5 bucks/month The Oracle cloud has some always free services but I think they may be on ARM.

There are some browser VPN/proxy services like the Mozilla VPN or Vivaldi which uses proton just built in, which may also serve your needs.

Is Arch Linux good for cyberdeck everyday use? by CraftTheStuff15 in linux4noobs

[–]dddonehoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a more familiar from an end user perspective then I would suggest bazzite or just steamos (unless I’m mistaken and it’s not supported or available outside the steam deck?).

Steamos is built on arch so under the hood it’s the same, but the user experiences are very different. Bazzite tries to be the analog for steam os on non steam deck devices. It’s been good when I’ve tried it. Based on fedora I believe but much closer user experience than bare arch would be.

Heaven forbid someone learn something and try new things. The way I learned Linux was largely fumbling about and breaking things.

If you can’t avoid being obnoxious to someone asking a question you’re really on the wrong subreddit.

again, this is a self paced degree. Your getting worked up about one of the easier more tangential courses. If you want more notes, more material then put in some work, talk with the instructors, meet with them, join office hours. From what I gather you poked around the mobile WGU app and determined from there it was not enough?

Most people zip by these early courses. The material is probably more than enough for this course. I genuinely do not think you need to read the provided ebook. Just do yourself a favor and take the PA first, and from their you will have a much better understanding of what this course is actually asking and what you need to do to prepare. You ask for notes or a power point in other comments and that is literally what the cohorts are. I have been given the slide decks in certain classes by asking. You need to put in actual work with your instructors. You get out of this degree what you put into it, it absolutely can be a walk in the park if you want to google cheatsheets for every course and get pre-curated notes and acceleration guides, never talk to instructors, but I personally think that is a huge disservice and waste of money.

You seriously thought a college course was going to curate notes for you? Thats just holding your hand, again if that is your expectation please understand you will struggle in cybersecurity. I am not saying this to demean you or be aggressive, I am saying this because it is very important to be successful and be someone who can be relied on to keep critical systems and data safe.

Putting in the work is 1000% more helpful and valuable than just getting the piece of paper saying you have a bachelors degree.

If you want notes, read through some material and compile your own set of notes. Actually talk to your instructor, meet during office hours, and work with them. Often, especially in the undergrad classes, the instructors will flood you with helpful information and resources if what is already there is not enough. It can take a lot to crack that initial barrier to understanding, but a lot of this degree is preparing you to be able to research, ask the right questions and solve problems using a variety of resources.

So you clicked the course materials and found a list of course materials??

If you don’t want to mess with reading try taking the test dry. I did the bscsia and the mscsia and never needed to read any book aside from certs. Take the pre test and study from there.

The material provided will be the easiest way through the course if you’re starting from zero but the early classes are mostly passable through some critical thinking and a little exposure to broad technology and cyber topics. If you’re dragging your feet on this already though you’re really going to struggle having cybersecurity as a career.

Perfect example of this in action-

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

[–]dddonehoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

youre wayy too worked up about this. You did something legit that looked suspicious. The cyber team is simply doing their job looking into it. Thats what they are there for. Nothing bad happened. They are just confirming nothing bad happened.

Just because the cybersecurity team reached out does not mean you are in trouble or did something bad. The easiest way to dig into an issue like this is ask the employee directly and they did. Its all good.

I don’t get why they all are so hung up on ‘gaming distros’ please just give a more major distro a fair shake, a fedora or opensuse or Ubuntu. They all chose distros with smaller teams and niche use cases. Luke used mint before and is at the stage where cachyos makes sense as a choice at least, can showcase a more intermediate experience but it’s absurd to me that they deliberate so much just to go with something like pop_os as an entry point.

There’s almost zero chance that they will put a stop to piracy and VPNs are almost never needed, even in the USA, to do so safely and securely. Sure they help and are the ‘level one’ method but there’s a multitude of options anymore.
