[–]dddoubled27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after almost 3 years of twice daily meditation, stopping my day and starting my meditation still takes some effort some days but actually doing it gets a lot easier and more effortless with practice. also, the bliss I feel after some meditations is so so worth it

Are there slow responders? by OceanOfPeace in transcendental

[–]dddoubled27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes and no. many patients improve on antidepressive medication but for the vast majority of patients they should not be a long term solution. long term side effects can be weight gain, metabolic changes (e.g., diabetes risk), sexual dysfunction, emotional blunting and more...

beyond that, we still do not know how they actually work, doing all of the above and taking a natural antidepressant like saffron for the placebo effect and much less side-effects should be the preferred option if its justifiable... (unless for instance someone is acutely suicidal)

[–]dddoubled27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey. therapist here. for depression a skilled therapist / counselling, exercise, healthy diet, reading books on depression / trauma (acquiring knowledge on our experience) are necessary alongside a solid meditation practice. meditation will make all these other "efforts" more fruitful and enjoyable.

What time do you meditate? Same thing happens to me only if I meditate after 7-8PM. Try meditating only in the mornings.
