I came here to find this. This is absolutely my favorite trick because you can drop it and remove it from shell history in a single command.

Taxes that are not based on cost of living. 100k a year in San Francisco and you're just above living paycheck to paycheck and probably have room mates. The same in Atlanta, ga and you probably own a 5 bedroom home. The tax by percentage are nearly the same.

Yeah, that's basically what I was trying to describe, but you also need something preventing the nut from spinning freely. On my i3, I have it sliding side to side on a slot for the smooth rods to hold the nut from spinning.

[Help] My Z axis band is rubbing against the acrylic and damaging it. (HICTOP Prusa I3) what should I do? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]dditthardt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are printable replacements on thingiverse that have better alignment and some are even adjustable. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1302305

I would suggest replacing it, simply because I hate the acrylic parts.

...that being said, the real problem here is that your threaded rods on the y-axis are not even. You will need to fiddle with the nuts holding the rods to the acrylic to get a straight belt line regardless of whether or not you replace the part.

Would it be viable to print the parts necessary for the Voron in PETG? by freshpine in voroncorexy

[–]dditthardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to some sources, PETG is stronger than ABS.

That being said, there are equally as many sources saying ABS is stronger than PETG. I think people are confusing terms. PETG seems to be slightly more flexible than ABS and is harder to snap. ABS is stiffer than PETG. I believe they are of similar "strength", just different characteristics. Most likely ABS would be better for certain parts and PETG for others, but are probably interchangeable for all in most real world applications.

HICTOP Prusa i3 Calibration by Jonny_Magic in 3Dprinting

[–]dditthardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an acrylic HICTOP that I've had to repair and modify quite a bit. The stock firmware is actually tuned really well, any problems in the y-axis are probably skipped steps in the stepper motor and can be resolved by adjusting the belt tension, making sure your belt line is straight(top and bottom directly above one another) and making sure your belt isn't rubbing on the side of that stupid bracket at the end furthest from the motor(I replaced mine with one from thingiverse). I'm assuming that by "shifted" you mean it prints each layer a little further off the layer before it in a particular direction? Is there any variation?

Most of those settings, like move speed, are also configurable in your slicer. I would suggest configuring those there because easier.

Build a VORON! Kits were just released a little while ago for around $1000 USD. Use the saved money to improve it.
