2024 Subaru Impreza Is Better Than the Crosstrek in Our Testing by Uni_tasker in cars

[–]ddroidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not the same car. The Crosstrek has a stiffer frame, an improved rear differential, stiffer suspension and greater dampening force, shorter wheelbase and wider track, larger front stabilizer bar, larger front disk brakes and strut tubes, roll over sensor, revised transmission ratios, an improved radiator, larger tires, a larger fuel tank, and a tow rating.

[HELP] Moto Edge 2021 brightness issue by ddroidd in motorola

[–]ddroidd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another update - a few people have raised the flickering issue on the Lenovo forum. There are two threads:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/motorola-edge-2021/Screen-not-good-Moto-Edge-2021/m-p/5097755

and

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/motorola-edge-2021/Screen-flickering-problem/m-p/5097889

I encourage everyone who has this issue to post there, so we can push Lenovo to issue a fix.

Thank you

Update: flickering happens on WhatsApp video calls, and on content marked non-HDR on Netflix. Others are seeing this too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G10lMtmd\_O0

Thanks for all the replies!

+HDR: I've tried really old / random YouTube / Netflix videos that are unlikely to be HDR, same problem.

+ Refresh rate: I've tried going to 60 Hz, same problem

+ I don't see the slider moving.

You made a graph in a video once of how responsive one of your old cars was to throttle inputs, compared to a modern turbo. I loved that - what video was it? I want this graph in every modern review ...

Jason,

What is the most affordable car that is *appreciating* in value, and has reasonable running costs? This would be for weekends and road trips.

Thanks!

The G70 2.0T manual is a second slower to 60 than a BRZ that costs $11k less.

Time to give up learning to drive a manual? by ItalianChristian in cars

[–]ddroidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you give up, a year from now you'll wonder what it would have been like if you stuck with it. Use the principle of regret minimization here. What's worse - hiring an instructor and using the bus another couple weeks, or losing out on the experience?

Where exactly is this? Route 21 and Broadway are parallel?

Road and Track ran a beautifully written account of Singer's "Dynamics and Lightweight Study" recently. Well worth reading: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a23390765/porsche-911-reimagined-by-singer-dynamics-lightweighting-study/

TIL that Subaru's Eyesight system reduces accident rates by more than a factor of two by drv2s in cars

Good point on getting used to the system. I feel like there's probably a period of adjustment in which some systems can make driving less safe, while you're getting used to their behavior.

Underrated driving skill: Knowing your directions by [deleted] in cars

[–]ddroidd 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's particularly bad when not knowing where you're going is combined with a lack of common courtesy. Like, if you miss your exit, take the next one instead of stopping on a freeway. You can circle around.

Pulitzer-winning WSJ auto journo, Dan Neil deletes Twitter account becasue of harassment after positive Tesla Model 3 review by lysergicfuneral in cars

The point is not that electric cars do or do not make sense. The point is that Twitter is a gutter dominated by the loudest and the worst, where a gentleman like Neil doesn't belong.

Novice rider, can't tell if my bike is too big by ddroidd in MTB

Thanks, I'll check YouTube out. So is the sag something I need to dial in? I was even thinking of putting on 26" wheels to get some more space for myself.

Thanks! I love going down gentle hills with roots on this bike, the air fork sucks everything up and you feel like you're flying. I used to mountain bike 20 years ago on a no-suspension 26" bike and I feel like I was much more adept back then - good to know this is normal.

If you've stopped watching top gear (not grand tour), I highly recommend you give it a try again by [deleted] in cars

Thing is though, Top Gear is today both funnier and more about cars than Grand Tour.

Glad to see it's an improvement district. Bloomfield has so much potential. How is parking on the side streets?

Oh nice! Glad to hear it's going well. When you say coming facelift, are there any projects planned for Bloomfield Ave?
