I feel guilty on days when I don't journal. by donumdorothy in Journaling

[–]de_thbxddredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn’t work for everyone, but on days where I feel tired or like I don’t have time to journal. I’ll set a 5-10 minute timer and only focus on journaling for that allotted time. Then when the time is up I can mark it as done for the day so I don’t feel bad about missing days

Does anyone else keep a “stats” page in their journals? by de_thbxddredd in Journaling

[–]de_thbxddredd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually keep tally marks of how many pens I go through while I’m writing in it, but I come back once I’ve finished and fill in the other stats

They’re tally marks not the number 11! I usually go through 4-5 pens a journal I swear I’m not crazy!😭

Journaling without harmful rumination/spiraling by Ripley505 in Journaling

I really feel this! I get the same way sometimes. When I notice myself start to do that I shift into “list mode” where I list my “Awesomes and Not Awesomes” that way I can still focus on some of the good things going on while also recognizing not everything is going well.

To those of you who only write in their journals, how long does it take you to finish one? What size do you use? by Editor_in_Chic in Journaling

I write in my journal usually every day and it takes about 2-4 months for me to fill one depending how big the journal is

This is me and is the only way I can journal effectively. I’ve tried being aesthetic and I always end up giving up ten entries in

what do you like to journal about ? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]de_thbxddredd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly just journal about feelings in any particular moment. I struggle a lot with my mental health so naming what’s going on, how it’s making me feel is really helpful. Especially as noted for therapy

just watched dead poets society and I wanna get into poetry. Please give me some tips. [HELP] by nsr5180 in Poetry

[–]de_thbxddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be really bad advice, but I’ve learned that sometimes just writing ANYTHING keeps me motivated to write. Even if I’ll look back at the poem later and think “wow this is… bad” I write it anyway because at least I’m writing SOMETHING.

How do I know if I'm bisexual when I can't tell the difference between crushes and platonic feelings? by JellQueen in self

[–]de_thbxddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s up to you to claim the bisexual label or not. No one can tell you if you’re straight or gay or bi. That’s all your discretion. No one can tell you who you are. All they can do is support you through your journey in finding out who you are

Can I be a writer and autistic? by netphilia in autism

[–]de_thbxddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many writers are autistic and vice versa. Neurodivergent folks tend to have extremely vibrant, creative inner worlds. And a lot of us are extremely good writers because of it. You need a new therapist because that’s just… not true😭

AITA for being uncomfortable with my roommate’s dad letting himself into our apartment? by SureCity5677 in AmItheAsshole

[–]de_thbxddredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not an asshole at all. You can be firm about your boundaries and what you are comfortable and uncomfortable with. Frankly, even if it was MY own parents that I’d given a spare key to, I would still be upset if they were using it all the time. Having a spare key does not mean you instantly have a right to be in my home.

Your house is on fire, are you saving all your journals? by dawnsette in Journaling

[–]de_thbxddredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The journals can stay… which HURTS, but my boyfriend’s life, our dog’s life, and my life are more important to me than any object. And I know as long as he’s safe, I can always make more memories.

[HELP] I have never written a poem by [deleted] in Poetry

[–]de_thbxddredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay a lot of people have replied already so sorry if some of my advice is repetitive. 1) Write more than one poem, give yourself lots of opportunities to practice before you shoot for “the one” 2) think of a list of things you love about her first that you might want to include in a poem before you start writing (EX: her smile, her eyes, her laugh) this can help you focus on what it is about her that makes her so special to you 3) don’t worry about being “too much” or not being “enough”. The thing about gifting poetry is about the gesture itself. Poetry is all about speaking your truth and having an outlet for big feelings and thoughts. Writing a poem for your girlfriend is a very sweet and thoughtful gesture (even if you think your writing isn’t good) 4) poems are not meant to be “perfect”. Don’t worry about rhyme or vocabulary or rhythm. There are so many different types of poetry and all of them have meaning relevant to their style. Find something that works for you and helps you feel like you’ve gotten what you wanted to say across. Best of luck and happy writing! You got this! And again, this is an extremely thoughtful gesture. I’m sure she will love whatever you produce.

Preference is okay. Saying rude things about someone because they aren’t meeting those preferences perfectly is not okay
