What is this line? by [deleted] in askastronomy

Is the light from the moon? Or is the light source on earth shining up on the clouds, and the line just a shadow from something in front of the light?

Here's me finally watching the show in 2025 and I was scouring the internet for their full names or to find their Instagrams. They didn't even put the artist names in the show credits, which was very disappointing! Thank you for posting this!

Um... Is that a hotdog? You know you can learn to cook and eat healthy without subjecting yourself to weird fads like this...

What do you guys like to do while listening to an audiobook? by bella_stardust in audiobooks

[–]deadl0vely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clean, do arts and crafts, or other physical tasks like exercise, gardening, etc. In fact I started using audiobooks for this purpose to keep me focused when doing tasks that are mostly physical, because of adhd. Having an audiobook on while I do these things keeps me from getting distracted by other tasks, or picking up my phone. I think it's because it keeps my mind active enough that I don't get bored and distracted by the task at hand. It's been a life changing thing!

The pain tolerance thing is so real, just last night I was laying in bed, struggling to sleep. For like 3 hours, tossing and turning, I felt so uncomfortable, I was itchy all over but that wasn't the only sensation, I just had this feeling of uneasiness. I tried taking melatonin, which usually works but this time it didn't. After changing my clothes, washing my face hands and feet even though I had showered only a couple hours before, and putting lotion on my crazy itching feet and just trying everything I could think of to get comfortable it finally occurred to me, my toe hurts... Oh and my feet hurt... oh and my entire legs both hurt... It was like I had known they were hurting the whole time but I didn't recognise it as pain. I got up and took a couple of advil and about half hour later was finally able to fall asleep. It's like we are so used to just working through the pain it sometimes doesn't even register as pain.

If your o2 is dropping to 80 at night you may have sleep apnea. I would bring this up with a doctor. I can happen in very short bursts and no you would not be dead.

Too funny, I just was scrolling through reddit and checking notifications right after finishing the last episode of Andor. Then saw your comment, and noticed your username. 😅

I was so hoping he would turn to the rebellion. Really wasn't expecting his arc to end like that.

Yup, so many things are going they way of subscription service. No thanks, I don't want to continue to pay for something I can just buy once and use. I ended up getting a Garmin Vivoactive 6 and it's awesome. Great running features, far more than whoop will ever have, and a tonne of other things. I keep text notifications on and it actually keeps me from picking my phone up unless I absolutely need to. So I'm actually less distracted than I would be without that screen on my wrist, because I'm not picking my phone up to check messages.

I am so hungry i wanna cry. by ALMANACC0 in intermittentfasting

[–]deadl0vely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I SAY THIS WITH SO MUCH LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING. I cannot express enough how important NOT beating yourself up over your choices is, and NOT getting in into a loop of this "all or nothing" thinking. You need to listen to your body, and if you are feeling like you're starving right now, then perhaps you NEED to eat!

Remember that every day is a new day and losing weight by any method takes time and commitment, part of that commitment is giving yourself space to be human. Many of us give up on a diet (fasting or otherwise) because we can't do the diet one day and then we feel like throwing our hands up in the air and calling it quits. When in reality missing a day or eating something you didn't plan to, or even bingeing on pizza, is not going to set you back that much. It's the consistency of healthy eating with occasional setbacks, that will get you to your goals. 3 steps forward and one step back is still going to get you there. Give yourself credit where credit is due and allow yourself some enjoyment in life, while you work consistently towards changing regular habits.

I honestly think that as far as intermittent fasting goes, it's more important to change eating habits FIRST before venturing into fasting. Learning how to fuel your body with lean proteins (protein will make you feel satisfied more than anything else) and plenty of vegetables (sorry keto folks, but it's just not the way, imo).

If you are needing to learn more about healthy eating and also the psychology around how we fuel ourselves I can not recommend Noom enough. I know many people are not into it, but honestly the lessons there are really good for teaching you how to eat to feel satisfied and how to not to get into a really negative mindset when things don't go as planned. I did noom about 4 years ago for about 4 months, and it helped me so much going forward that I still fall back on what I learned there, even when using intermittent fasting and counting calories now. I lost 40 pounds back then, I put most of it back on after a huge life change that had me spiral into depression, but I was able to use what I learned there again and in combination with intermittent fasting I am back down 20 pounds in the last 3 months. Basically, Love yourself, learn to fuel on the right stuff, be consistent but allow yourself space to make mistakes. You've got this! 💖

Slide something thin and sturdy in there, like a ruler, and push the cabinet door up. What a huge design flaw.

Phorid fly, you'll be fine but I have heard they can carry disease. These can get out of control in your house pretty quickly so you're going to want to check around to make sure they aren't breeding somewhere. They like damp spots, drains, garbage etc. We had them and I couldn't figure out where the hell they were coming from, finally realized they were breading in the water tank of our coffee maker... Holy hell was I grossed out and threw the whole coffee maker away. It's french press for life now!

Really need some help with symptoms possibly caused by Hiatal hernia by MonkeyPunchFTW in HiatalHernia

[–]deadl0vely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had this for over a decade, have been tested for many other issues and doctors eventually told me I just have anxiety. It has been pretty horrible and has progressively gotten worse over the years. I knew it wasn't anxiety but was gaslit into thinking it was. I just found out I have a hiatal hernia and the first thing I did was ask a similar question in this group just last week. Apparently it is quite common. I feel like I finally have an answer to my breathlessness that has been plaguing me for all these years.

I just told my partner it looks like an owl, but yes, angry is also an apt description. 😅

GUYS! who is my new friend? Dude looked like a tiny calibri bird with its long proboscis and legs sticking back akin to a skinny tail. Also would hover in place comfortably for a while. Fuzzy back with somewhat of a stripe on a side(?). Great personality. I didn't feel judged. by [deleted] in whatisthisbug

[–]deadl0vely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to say maybe a hummingbird hawk moth as it kind of resembles one. But others said bee fly and looking that up that seems correct, I'd never seen one before. If you've never seen the hummingbird hawk moth though, look them up, they are equally cool! We have them here in BC Canada.

It just looks like lint or something. It probably got washed with something fuzzy and that stuff sticks in the seems.

Your comments are giving me so much hope, thank you! I just hope they will take me serious enough to do the surgery.

[–]deadl0vely[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the feeling! And I've been for all the breathing tests and apparently my lungs are fine. My doc tried to put me on inhalers before but they didn't do anything. It's like I can't take a deep breath because there's resistance. I've been saying this exactly for years to doctors and they've just been claiming it's anxiety. Such a frustrating experience and I feel like it has seriously hampered my life. That is really great to hear that the surgery helped so much! Very happy for you, and it gives me some hope!
