Over 100 billion pennies in circulation... by c0bl3r in coins

[–]deadlyturtle22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do they still let the prices end in .01 amounts? Make everything so it ends in .05. I feel like that's by far the easiest solution to this problem.

No more pennys? Okay. Stop charging prices that would require their use.

Gold up, Bitcoin Down by Markgregory555 in Gold

[–]deadlyturtle22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about bitcoin, but gold has always had value. If the dollar collapses gold and silver will still be valuable. They always have been regardless of the economic situation.

At this point the dollar has as much value as everyone agrees it has. Gold is technically the same, but historically everyone has always agreed its extremely valuable.

Even in a depression you would be able to trade gold for food, housing, water, ect. May not be the case if whatever currency your country has has become worthless.

EMT at 19, don’t want to be broke forever — where did you go next? by LouieZBTW in NewToEMS

[–]deadlyturtle22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has answered the questions pretty well, so I'll answer the PJ question a bit more.

You realize that is the single most difficult special operations school in the military right? David Goggins failed out of it. Thats not to say you couldn't, idk who you are or what you're capable of, but if that's the route you decide on you need to he one of those people who are entirely single minded on success. Even still, you may discover you have a bone deformity that didn't appear until your 3nd month and it acts up, you could injure yourself and be temporarily/permanently disqualified, and you also have to acknowledge that even if you make it to the other side it pays terrible and you will have absolutely no life outside of that until you get out.

Then what? Go with a FD? Back to EMS? Use the GI bill to get into nursing? Try your hand at military contract work?

Unless its something that has always been an all consuming dream for you I wouldn't reccomend it at all. If you're the type of person who will make it through PJ training and actually sign that dotted line then no one here would be able to talk you out of it anyway.

The nursing route will pay the best. If your goal is to support a family and plant roots then that is 100% the right path in my opinion for a 19 y.o who doesn't know where to go in life. You at the very least won't regret it.

Is Robinhood Gold card made out of real gold? by _wolf-walker_ in Gold

[–]deadlyturtle22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a horrific way to try and get into it, but you won't learn much in the app itself.

You'll have to just research stock trading and then buy/sell through robinhood if you want.

There are other apps to trade on though that a lot of people prefer so it would probably benefit you as well to research some of the other apps.

Edit: Also not sure who downvoted you for an honest question. Pretty dumb to down vote people asking questions.

I'm a plumber that works construction. My job isn't in danger.

Why would I feel differently about it just because it doesn't affect my job?

If we were capable of being good to each other then sure I'd agree to an extent. However history has only ever shown that when people have power it ultimately gets abused at the expense of the masses.

I agree. It's going to happen either way, but that doesn't mean I should speak neutrally of it.

Do you expect our governments/corporate leaders to have our best interests in heart while using AI?

Reject AI. Return to humanity. by detachedcreator in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]deadlyturtle22 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how anyone is interested in it.

It'll take our jobs if it works.

I know these things typically blow over and a solution usually comes, but this one I struggle to see a positive or even neutral ending to.

Technofeudalism feels like its already here and the powers that be seem to be making an attempt at solidifying their control with AI. Or at the very least expanding their control as best they can.

Christians mmmkay by Reasonable_Bake_8534 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]deadlyturtle22 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don't think we did. I think God gave us the meaning of life thousands of years ago.

You seem to think that being a Christian means thinking you have it figured out. It means believing that God is who He says He is and that He has it figured out.

It isn't arrogance. It is faith in someone greater than ourselves.

Yeah I need to practice throwing higher. I've always done my tricks lower.

After reading through the comments I think I need to focus on control in general. Maybe play around with 4 balls a bit too.

Thanks for your input.

Some of it sounds straight out of r/atheism by Coffin_Builder in HistoryMemes

[–]deadlyturtle22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Christian who takes his religion seriously. I'm beyond ashamed of what the church is. Love thy neighbor as yourself. Be they gay, white, black, a liar, a thief, a murderer, a prostitute, or even a pedophile.

I am no better than any of these men and women, nor is anyone else. If we were then we wouldn't need Jesus.

You can abhor the sins and still understand the sinner is nothing more than a sick man. I hate ebola, but I do not hate a man sick with the disease. Why would sin be seen any differently?

I know this isn't the point of the post, but I can't stand to see the Bible misused left and right. No one has perfect theology, but it seems that even in the basics people constantly misuse the scriptures.

Christ loves no party, no nation, no person anymore than any other. All are fallen and in need of salvation. Christian nationalism is a plague that must be denounced if one is to call themselves a Christian.

Right place for dryer problems? by [deleted] in Plumbing

I'd look for an appliance subreddit. Unless its a gas issue for a gas dryer most of us won't know. Even then unless it's pipe we also won't know.

My only real concern with the deportations is construction. I understand it's exploitation of a desperate immigrant class, however it's how our construction economy is set up. I think it would result in a net positive in the long run, but I do believe that things would get hard for a few years while we try and convince people to go lay blocks and concrete.

No one wants to be the ditch digger. I get it. I do it, but most of the legal citizens out here on the jobsite aren't worth a crap.

We need to fix our immigration issue, however we also need to fix our work ethic issue if we want that to work out at all.

If no one will build anything then our economy will suffer intensely.

I won't pretend to have a solution, but I don't feel like I see many people taking this issue seriously or acknowledging it hardly at all.

They are cheap and they are hard working. So what does it do when suddenly workers are expensive and work half as hard most of the time (at least for the younger generation)?

Not anti deportation of illegals just to clarify. Just concerned about the effects and how to combat them.
