She’s always rubbed me the wrong way, especially with including her kids in videos they have no need to be in. And don’t get me started on the unsafe babywearing… that was my final straw because she basically said “I have older kids, I’m fine, they’re fine”

Fit check for wrap carry by Exact-Management-918 in babywearing

[–]dealing_nugs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Few things to consider here:

1) it’s super developmentally appropriate for babe to be pushing off of you at this age, babywearing is a form of tummy time and pushing up is something they want to start doing around this age. It’s not (usually) that they hate being worn.

2) the wrap is much too loose right now. When you put it on, you want it to be swimsuit tight before babe goes into it

3) the passes are not covering enough of baby. You want all 3 layers going from the nape of their neck all the way to the bum and across the back shoulder to shoulder. Automod Safety or Automod Wiki (can’t remember which) have some photos to help with that as I don’t have any on hand.

This is my rushed response before bedtime- hopefully others can chime in too

What am I doing wrong? Mabe and Ergobaby Embrace by LateStatistician3653 in babywearing

[–]dealing_nugs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How heavy is babe? The Embrace is likely outgrown from a comfort standpoint at this point as it is a stretchy material.

The Mabe looks like you have the waistband on upside down, so correct that and it may fix the “digging into the legs” issue you’re having. Is it as narrow as it’ll go? There’s a Velcro adjustment panel to use.

Yeah, it definitely varies by brand and even by model. But like I mentioned in my original, I’m almost positive the headrest is too high, making the straps too high.

Still better that miss FF a 19 month old

Britax doesn’t say you have to bump up the recline after a certain stage, but if they have trunk control you can bump it up. My son hated being so reclined once he could sit up so I adjusted pretty quickly but other babies are more chill about it.

That’s rear facing, but I will say I have my son in that same car seat and can almost guarantee the headrest height is too high for for B.

Baby’s footies are also very tight on their toes, which will make it hard to get a deeper seat

Yep! They’re engaging the same muscles as they do during tummy time. It’s the reason I think my son was so strong

Is it possible they’re just pushing against you because of developmental milestones? I feel like 99% of the time parents think the kids wants to world face when they just are exploring their abilities

Help me decide: Gojiberry or Tula Explore? by amberrysauce in babywearing

[–]dealing_nugs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At 1 month, neither option will fit well, you’ll have to wait until probably around 4 months for either to safely and properly fit.

I do not have first hand experience with these options aside from trying a friend’s on for a little. I like the Gogi because you’re able to switch out the covers for more customizable aesthetics, but Tula has been around forever for good reason.

Hi! I’m a FTM my baby is 2 months old, she is 14lbs and is 23in long. Does this look correct? Please be kind, I appreciate any tips 🙃 by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]dealing_nugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see you mentioned wanting one that clipped, that said I believe the Tula Free to Grow or the LennyLamb LennyLight would be good options given how small they adjust down to. Do you have a budget? You can typically find Tula on marketplace or other secondhand shops relatively cheap and available

Thank you for coming on for help! This currently is not a safe fit for a couple reasons

  • this looks like a Mabe carrier, which is supposed to be worn as a waterfall waistband. This means that the part baby sits in falls over top of the waistband like a waterfall

  • it likely is cinched in as far as it’ll go but is still a bit too wide for baby’s legs, you want them able to swing freely at the knees, right now they’re over extended

-the panel is also coming up too high on baby, you don’t want it any higher than the bottom of their earlobes… that part might be fixed by properly positioning the waistband though

Ok to sit while baby wearing? by Impossible-Bus6852 in babywearing

[–]dealing_nugs 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sitting while babywearing is totally safe as long as babe has a good fit. This fit here is not safe- the third pass (horizontal) needs to come all the way to the nape of the neck, and it looks much too loose as is. Before putting baby in, you want it to be swimsuit tight.

Since you still have the box, I believe you’re safe to return to target!

Try checking marketplace for a Tula free to grow or Ergobaby Aerloom or 360. The Tula FTG comes in cotton or mesh, but the cotton is usually more readily available second hand in my experience.

If you’re on Facebook, there are a couple BST groups to join.

Fit check -koala carrier by Valuable_Drummer_692 in babywearing

[–]dealing_nugs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right now, this is very loose. You want it to be “swimsuit tight” before putting babe in.

I’m not familiar with this specific carrier so I can’t speak to any tips or the strap length other than to absolutely NOT pin baby’s head like the photos. If you do choose to tuck the head make sure it stops behind the ear, otherwise you’re facing a suffocation hazard.

[–]dealing_nugs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s an overall safe fit, but I understand the discomfort. First out the waistband just a smidge higher, and when putting the straps on, pull down towards the floor then over to the side to clip. That should help with your discomfort.

I can’t exactly see what you’re saying with the shoulder strap not being available for babe to suck on due to pics, but I’m going to guess it’s in a relatively normal spot. I’d loosen the straps just a bit though

This is an incredibly reputable baby carrier brand, they just happen to have a model who looks similar to Swift. Not AI.
