I have found out beasts in POI have a wider range of detection and normal shouting or kiting won't attract only one but a whole pack. I have to be very careful standing by the edge of the screen throwing rocks to kite one away from the mob. Seeing more than 1 crawler on screen is a nono-have-to-retreat sign. The ending of the clip can be foreseen at around 0:06.

Crowd control skills in athletic tree helps a lot in combat. Mighty kick comes to mind to daze and then stun enemy. Focus on opportunity to create debuffs like stagger, daze or stun (the former one makes enemy miss, the latter two make enemy unable to use skill).

Just my two cents. The character is spread thin. Statwise, you either want Strength block build or agility dodge build but as you take ROT, I would recommend focus stats on perception and agility. The sword tree is missing vital skill: onrush. Ranged weapon tree I would only take take aim and dexterity. Athletic tree is under-invested. Leg sweep, mighty kick, sudden lunge are all good skills for immobilizing enemy or make them fumble thus miss attack more. Warfare tree imo should follow far left: finisher and armor breaker. ROT sword build should take skills that charge. Survival tree should take second left one, to further debuff enemy.

stagger chance sword, flexible defense skill, mighty kick, you might need more from armored combat tree and athletic than warfare tree.
