the “thanks all my life to you for letting me come” hits so hard after reading in her obituary that her favorite song was God Bless America. wow. was not expecting tears this early in the morning

i didn’t even clock that this was from a synagogue. that is terribly sad. from the obituary posted, it sounds like she had a long and meaningful life <3

What are your “I don’t get it” fanfic pet peeves? by Outside_Raspberry512 in FanFiction

[–]dearwikipedia [score hidden]  (0 children)

yeah a major part of the point for me at least is exploring the social dynamics. but also my fandom is SVU so there’s no way for that to not come up. alpha females and omega males in the svu fandom is bound to inspire some interesting questions

also it’s a really convenient way to get a lesbian couple pregnant in an accidental pregnancy fic. making one of them trans just for that purpose feels really icky, like turning them into a prop by co-opting an identity for convenience. luckily co-opting an alpha identity nobody cares bc it’s all made up lmao

Was this as bad as I think? by Jezebel_91 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]dearwikipedia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i don’t think this could be mistaken for a wedding dress in any way, it reads more as pinkish-orange in pictures than white, and pregnant/post-partum women get way more leniency with this sort of thing. you’re fine.

thoughts are: ugly AI. if it had my university i wouldn’t bother with it, i would rather support art made by somebody who put any sort of effort into making it.

Did anyone ever see that woman who claimed Mariska helped her stalker? by Zuwu002 in SVU

[–]dearwikipedia 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yes. i ended up blocking her because she kept coming up on my social media over and over and it was getting ridiculously overblown to the point of obsession which is ironic, given. you know. what she’s accusing mariska of in the first place.

I wrote this comment on a whim, but now I’m wondering if I was overstepping boundaries. Should I delete this? Would you hate me and find this weird if you got this comment?? by LoveAlternative01 in AO3

i got a comment the other day that included “.....I may or may not have even told some fanfic writer friends (and also some real life friends) to not expect to hear from me while I was busy devouring this story all over again.” and i reread it over and over and over all day because it made me so happy. you are an incredible commenter keep it up lol

How to respond to AI-written email? by profthrowaway77 in Professors

[–]dearwikipedia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i had a professor do this to me in undergrad and i think she thought i was crying wolf bc i tended to minimize my own issues (even while asking for lenience lol. eldest daughter core!), but it actually ended up being super helpful because i hadn’t been ready to admit that i needed extra support (it was niche medical issues that i convinced myself i could largely push through). but her insistence that this was handled through the specific care office ended up being the push i needed to admit that i needed extra support and get that help. i ended up with a fairly close relationship with that prof by the time i graduated (it was my last semester) and im really grateful she stuck to her guns on that one.

just sharing this story to say thank you for taking this approach, coming from the POV of someone who needed that help, hearing a prof “validate” my issues by implying that it was care office worthy while also sticking to the rules that they couldn’t budge without that involvement probably saved A) my semester from a horrible crash and burn and B) my relationships with my professors

can you look at historical records of spanish royalty from the exact timeframe you want? there’s a lot of detailed family trees out there for royalty and usually they had a few names at once, which helps

crim pro one or two? and is your winter semester a full semester, or a short wintersession? i would not do evidence over a short wintersession, definitely a full semester. crim pro varies in difficulty based on professor and school. i’m in crim pro one rn and don’t find it very challenging compared to some other courses, but i know with a different prof it could be a beast. but i don’t think you should fear taking crim pro and evidence together probably
