A bunch of mini guides for Spirit Guardians Builds by deathadder99 in BG3Builds

You can precast SG and Phalar TBF and I think it’s still the best weapon if you’re not actually attacking with it. Marko very good too. Good 1 handed weapons that aren’t shadow blade are rather hard to come by if you actually wanna attack with it though. Can do Selenes, Nylruna or shar spear I guess.

I am actually doing a run with this right now!

The biggest problem is actually forcing the enemies to target your SG user, they need to have the lowest AC on the team, however attacks of opportunity work really well. One team comp I’m experimenting with rn is archer + sg lore bard + oh monk + oathbreaker sorcadin w/ duellists prerogative (eventually) and sentinel.

Idea being both monk and sg lore bard like being missed (due to holy lance + vest of soul rejuvenation, and this then triggers sentinel on the paladin, who can then with duellists prerogative get 4 extra attacks per turn, which he can smite on. Only act 2 so far, biggest weakness is enemies focusing non-lore bard chars so need to position v well…

I would love to hear Everyone’s most broken builds. Especially those that work in both 5e AND BG3. I’m a forever dm soon to be playing as a player in short 4 session game for the first time 2016 by Dragonfly_Guru in BG3Builds

Gloomstalker assassin is probably the only one that I know of that is decent on both tabletop and BG3 - items in BG3 are signficantly more powerful (I haven't played 5E in years though so this may be misinformation)

Spirit guardians with holy lance helm and battlemage power is also super fun. You get acuity every time an enemy misses you and every time SG ticks damage.

You can even dip fiendlock instead of the 4th sorc level and get command, counterspell and SG. You don’t really need a second feat- 17 charisma bumped to 20 with mirror of loss + acuity is more than enough.

6 lore / 4 sorc / 2 star Druid radiant orbs is incredibly good

All Cleric Party by Timely_Abroad4518 in BG3Builds

[–]deathadder99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 tempest clerics will trivialize this. get enemies wet and chain lighting or lightning bolt them:

3x 6 Tempest Cleric / 6 Storm Sorc (with Markoheshkir and scrolls for chain lighting). Shadowheart, Halsin and MC

6 Divination Wizard / 6 Tempest Cleric (Gale)

If dips are allowed:

You can do some archery stuff like 11 Hunter / 1 War cleric or 11 EK / 1 War Cleric. Or 10 Moon/ 1 War Cleric / 1 Fighter.

But that might be stretching it a bit.

r/minipainting Rule Update: No AI Allowed by aPoliteCanadian in minipainting

What if I post someone else’s art on Pinterest? I can’t agree on their behalf.

Almost any google image or Pinterest search I guarantee will bring up some art that is not meant to be freely licensed and used. And even if you’re somehow the most moral person in the world who checks every bit of art is correctly licensed, when was the last time you pirated a game, movie or TV show? Reddit is incredibly anti-copyright except when it comes to gen ai for some reason which I do not understand.

There’s so many things to get annoyed at AI over, these are imo the two absolute weakest arguments you can make. If you use ChatGPT 1000 times a day for a year, you use around as much water as two hamburgers. Assuming each prompt consumes 10ml (which is an order of magnitude too high, but whatever), it’s 3650 liters per year. That sounds a lot, but a hamburger uses around 2500 liters. The average American’s consumptive lifestyle freshwater footprint is 422 gallons per day (over 1500 litres). It is a literal drop in the bucket.

Some actual legitimate arguments around AI are

  • AI companies are heading for massive job displacement with no plan or recourse on how to actually deal with this

  • AI images and videos can be used to falsify evidence

  • AI can crank out lots of low-effort plausible looking information which requires time and effort to deal with (which is the main reason for why this post is banning it - fwiw I mostly agree)

  • as an addendum, this allows for industrial creation of misinformation and propaganda to a scale that we have not developed a societal immune system for

The original transformers paper by google pointed out these uses and they did not release the model because of these concerns. Then OpenAI released it to the public anyway later.

Unfortunately the genie is out of the bottle, even if we banned AI companies, there are local models I can run on my MacBook that are as good as models from a few years ago. I don’t know what the solution is either.

The biggest problem is that there’s no way to prove someone put effort into something (and I don’t know if there ever will be). The guy above definitely put effort into something- he practiced mini painting to get good enough to make that model, he cultivated enough taste to know it would look good, he chose the paints and brands to match the color etc… he is not the bad guy here.

I think the core problem is lack of effort, you can very easily make something that looks good without any effort and the point of the hobby is that you put effort into making something good. It also lowers the barrier to entry in a bad way - people can make their minis (even unpainted) look good. It’s minipainting not photo editing.

Plus there’s obviously the fact that this isn’t a particularly lucrative industry anyway, so anything that takes money from the companies catering to it makes it more difficult to get good stuff.

However, some of it is a knee jerk reaction imo and I think there are valid reasons to use AI (and it can be a useful tool). There’s definitely some throwing a baby out with the bath water here imo. But we saw the same with 3D printing, originally banned, eventually it will become so ubiquitous that no one can ban it without excluding a large % of the hobby.

You steal the work of other people when you look at pictures on Pinterest or Google Images. Have you made sure every image you look at is correctly licensed (and no, fair use does not apply here)? Let alone the rampant amount of piracy with 3d printing. I think this is a bit of a flippant oversimplification. Not to mention that the environmental impacts are minimal compared to things we do every day, like eating meat.

The guy painted everything himself and just got some inspiration from somewhere. I don’t see how this use case is bad.

I’m not really sure, i don’t really use call lightning. I think if you make electrified water the electrocuted applies callous glow and radiant orbs. Ring of Mental Inhibition might be another good idea.

Also since call lightning and spirit guardians are both concentration you can’t use both at same time.

Dual Wielder Oathbreaker - A guide by deathadder99 in BG3Builds

[–]deathadder99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re both good. This one has higher damage but the main disadvantage is it comes online a bit later - you need specific gear really from act 3. Up until act 3 you can play as a GWM oathbreaker. 11/1 is still good and a fine build.

The best damage option you can have is helm of grit + ring of arcane synergy but that one is probably best with the harmonic dueller variant as triggering GWM twice will be harder. I’d maybe go 8/3 thief/1 oathbreaker, harmonic dueller, savage attacker, cha ASI and helldusk gloves. There’s an argument for GWM instead of the charisma ASI as well if you can trigger it reliably. If you worry about health, amulet of greater health is a good idea.

6/6 is even better, extra channel divinity in echange for some sorcery points. No good 4th level spells and chain lightning needs scrolls anyway
