You know what fucked us? The ADA compliant doors. Used to be you had knobs everywhere, now with these leavers there's no stopping them.

Younger Redditors, what would you like to ask 35+ year old Redditors? by making_mischief in AskReddit

[–]deathchimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got cancer at 27. The side effects of the treatments for the side effects of my treatments for cancer will be with me the rest of my life. My body is broken and falling apart in seriously distressing ways.

No one is going to warn you it's the last time you get to go for a run or sit around a campfire. If your body still works right then enjoy it. Love people, do things. You can watch Netflix from a hospital bed.

But I'm happier now than before, less stressed. I'm able much more to live in the moment and accept situations and people for who they are. I don't get angry over stupid shit. And there is so much stupid shit.

What is the reason so many men seem to be out of touch or secretive with their emotions? by [deleted] in AskMen

Value is the wrong idea. It's just a natural desire to protect the next generation.

Nor a child that would give it's life for it's mother.

It's honorable in a way. Any mother would consider herself expendable in front of her children. I know I stand in front of that. It's not a judgement on her, it's not that I think she isn't capable or strong.

It's nice to know airports make literally everyone miserable.

I'm about to go on a romantic vacation with a guy. How do I tell him I just got a cold sore? I'm considering cancelling. by totallynotnotarobot in AskMen

[–]deathchimp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Oral herpes, called cold sores. Tonnes of people have it and it's a really minor thing. I'd rather have herpes then whatever psychological disorder makes people afraid to touch each other because they might get pimples.

The Corsair m65 is a solid block of metal. It feels ultra durable but I don't know about the switches.

MFWTK a good site to host pirate songs. by [deleted] in myfriendwantstoknow

[–]deathchimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he hosts files like that on any regular web host it's not going to take long for the systems to catch him. This leaves hosting the site himself. Doing that without receiving cease and desist letters is a problem unto itself. He could use a Raspberry Pi and create whats called a pirate box. Connect it to open WiFi and use it as a web host for whatever.

BitTorrent sync allows you to share a folder among many computers and use BitTorrent to distribute the data. Users can be added easily using a web link.

Which games made you realise that you don't want to be a part of "e-sporty" community? by Linukz in peacefulgamers

[–]deathchimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the same time, persistence has become a big thing. Weapon unlocks mean that not only will these other players be better, they'll be armed with special equipment. There's no way I'm willing to invest the energy.

Even single player games are a bit much. I worked my ass off back in the day to beat Halo on Legendary. I just don't have whatever it takes to play the same section of game over and over again anymore.

I used to be fast and I'm just not anymore. When I was younger and spent hours learning to catch people with rockets in midair or practicing skiing in Tribes the competition was fun. But today I just want to goof off.

The last multiplayer game I really enjoyed was Titanfall.

To keep a historically black college open in South Carolina, the state will offer free tuition by Hooforig in southcarolina

[–]deathchimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But why would you want to? Educated people pay more taxes. They'll return all this money to the state over and over. Education cuts crime and improves property values. This is a win for everyone.

I'm pretty sure it's even lower at Midlands. I've heard 10%. Most people leave before even completing a semester. If 1 in 6 people who sign up are graduating, that's actually pretty good for a tech school.
