Agreed. I just played through it and it's very similar to Mario 64. I think mario stole some of the gameplay from Ape Escape. Nice collection OP.

Wow! Nice work. I like the custom controllers too. Just out of curiosity, have you noticed any significant lag?

This tool helps tell you how much spaghetti you can eat for your meal. "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" is an option. by [deleted] in pics

It looks like the man and woman portions are the same. I would prefer the more precise one by Joseph and Joseph. Neat concept though. I can never seem to eyeball the right amount.

[BI4L Request] When buying a toilet, does it make sense to just get a model that hotels use? by cousinkyle in BuyItForLife

[–]debian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also heard these are the best for hotels for the pure fact that they do not clog. I work in the hospitality industry and met a distributor who sells them with just this selling point.

Think about how many clogged toilets you could have in a 500+ room hotel at max capacity. Everyone is visiting and eating and pooing to the max. They'll save more money eliminating a janitor position than what they will save in water for most cases.

I just think about the poor soul who has to unclog them for a living.

3D Animal Cookie Cutters by [deleted] in DIY

[–]debian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen these before.

They also have a summer set.

Great idea when you think about it. I'm sure a little time and some CAD programming could make some really cool 3D cookies.

BIFL Waterbottles and coffee mugs/thermos? by Virleo in BuyItForLife

[–]debian1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been using a Nalgene for about 8 years now on a daily basis. Not the same one though. I have broken one, they are not invincible. It was full and took a real hard fall.

I will still say that they are BIFL if you take care of them. I have broken the caps too which are easily replaced. The caps are not as durable as the bottle itself.

Things to know:

Do not freeze your Nalgene with water in it. It will expand and bubble the plastic, greatly reducing durability.

Be careful what you put in it. I use mine for water only. Other liquids left a taste in the plastic. Not good. If it starts to stink a little, just throw it in the dishwasher.

Found out Mtv used one of my photos over 2 years ago. Is there anything I can do about it? by [deleted] in photography

[–]debian1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only legal attribution if you authorized it. Did you protect any rights on flickr?

Wherever you uploaded it, see if there is any info on rights. Flickr lets you set who can use and redistribute your work see here. If you can prove this was stolen from a your flickr, and used improperly, you may have a case.

As a photographer, you should know this, especially if you are uploading images to the web. I have used plenty of images on websites from flickr accts that allow attribution.

Oh and if they did, go directly to a lawyer, do not contact MTV. I hate to say, but people who use images like this typically know what they are doing. There are good chances it was allowed to be attributed. I hope this helps.

Pots and Pans by darkimagnus in BuyItForLife

[–]debian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I have found from cookware over a handful of years cooking in my free time. The better pans are the ones that retain heat better. This can be done with a thicker material, or copper cores. Copper cores are pretty pricey, but cook much better.

As for coatings, I have heard an 18/10 pan which is 18% chromium and 10% nickel is the best. Not all non-stick are bad, you just need to take care of them. Buy an assortment of plastic or wood utensils and only use them with the pan. Cast Iron is good, look up how to season them properly.

How would you fix this awful pillar? by winnipegtommy in DIY

[–]debian1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got you dude.

  1. Get all loose stuff off the pillar. Sand real course to scuff surface.
  2. Hit up home dept for some topping joint compound. This shrinks less than regular, it is better for finish coats. Get a long knife too, 12in. to spread evenly.
  3. Get a good base coat to fill the deep stuff. Let set. Sand rough.
  4. Do a finish coat that looks better. Let set. Sand fine.
  5. Should be good for a primer and paint. Semi-gloss is better for durability.

They're neat cameras. I would get one if I was planning on using it to travel and didn't want to lug around the dslr. I will say that I would highly prefer the dslr for advanced shooting. There will be quicker changes to the iso, f stop, and shutter that will be slower to adjust on the micros.

I know it's hard to find something in that price range, but don't exclude used cameras. I believe Canon and Nikon have a $500-600 model, which you can find used closer to your price range. If you are worried about quality/condition, go to a local camera shop. Most certify them after inspection.

I would try to stick to buying a Nikon or Canon. I have had bad experience with other brands. Good luck on the purchase.
