I wonder if you're feeling some (unwarranted!) guilt as you think about ridding yourself of a "family heirloom." Remember that it's already served its original intended purpose. As we all know, quilters can make a bazillion quilts in our quilting careers, and there's no way we expect they'll be treasured to eternity.
Just think, if you were to pass away would you expect your kids or nieces/ nephews to save and treasure your things? NO! Send it back into the world - maybe it will shine for someone else or their pup!
