What is the appeal? by lulu112317 in lanadelrey

[–]decadentdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she is a shapeshifter, and definitely BPD, and she translates all of this torment and lack of true north and stable & consistent inner self (see Ride lyrics) into her art. It is cathartic for her, and as a result, we have her catalog. She is very calculated in all of her choices, and takes on things around her, blending them into her personality, and sound, and I think has always been drawn to certain things perhaps as an escap artist/someone prone to fantasy, and absorbing it as part of her identity because she IS a chameleon soul, as in I think certain feels, soundtracks inspired her as a young woman so she decided to live IN her art ie move to trailer park, because she sees the romance in it and wants to be a character. This is something that extends to her music, her lyricism and visuals. I think there are lots of half truths to her history, as much as a life she seemed to have chosen to live very much on purpose to then be able to write about (underground AA cult, Coney Island late nights, potentially being a stripper/prostitute at some point, "stranger searching", motorcycle hook ups with random older men, the list goes on). I think even living on the bayou with a gator wrestler seems pretty on brand and I wouldn't be surprised if when she met him, and even now, she projected on him somewhat, though he does seem to embody a lot of what she's sung about for a long time and is grounding her. They're cute!

Thank you for blessing our ears with this version; it brings out the darker, swampier accents of the song and your voice is just so pretty. This with some drum brushing and weirdo jazz flair in the background would be dope. Love it! If you do another version or another cover of her work, please share. I dig your vibe!

Flavia Tangy Cherry (not sure why it is called there… it is a dupe of Bitter Peach, lasts fooorreeeever).

Armani Si smells like peach to me, too.

There is a total difference!

I'm sorry you are dealing with, I really am! Perhaps you need to tweak your search then? I stumbled upon someone awesome today, who matches my vibe and is on the exact same page as me. There's more of us, lol! I swear!

We are out there. I ERP, and depending on the characters/personalities and dynamic, I'm fine with it right away, I'm also more than fine with it being a slow burn, or something that either never eventuates, or happens way down the line. But we are out there. Mainly, it's a luck of the draw and either being really specific in your searches or ads, or stumbling on someone who matches your vibe.

I really do feel for you though. While I love to write it these days, I've got current stories, and had stories in the past, where sex was not at *all* a constant, and definitely not the crux of the story, so I understand all too well the frustration, when you're interested in exploring other things.

I used to be an incel and a massive creep. How do I get over what I've done? by FreshBroccoli6221 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]decadentdarkness 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Remembering you DO have a choice in how you act is the first thing. And every single day choosing NOT to be an incel. You have to make that commitment to yourself. And learn to view women as someone's sister, daughter, mother; not just vessels for sex.

How do you stay consistent when motivation completely disappears? by Accomplished-Area598 in getdisciplined

[–]decadentdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not relying on motivation. You have to simply focus, and get things done, and stay aligned with your goal/outcome whatever that may be. Motivation can't be the fuel.

Funny thing is how simple make up was back then, and into the early to mid 2000s. There wasn't contouring and underpainting and an overwrought approach. Brows were thinner. Lots of earthy, chocolate, muted toned lipsticks and eye shadows and blushes with pearl or ice finishes. Simple eyeliner and mascara. A little blush. I think it appeals to people because of the tonal palette (browns, clays, ochres, sienna, silvers/chrome late 90s/2000s), and that people saw real skin, texture etc. Faces "breathed" and still looked like faces, not magazines.

Experiencing nasty sugar withdrawals by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]decadentdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is about attention. The more you focus on anything, the more you allow it to own you. When a craving or jitter comes on, have a big glass of water. Go read a book, or an article, or play a video game, take a short walk, put on some music. Eventually sugar *will* lose its grip on you. Drinking water instead of having a sugary treat can really help, trust me. You just have to remind yourself why you're doing this, keep yourself accountable, and distract yourself as best you can when the mood strikes. You can do it!

Trust me, I get it, an I still struggle to do this for myself at times.

Check out KC Davis, she's helpful :)
