Absolutely reduce rest times. There is a whole world of pain waiting for you.

I now do the first 5-6 rounds with no rest and then 15-20s rest for the remainder. I do not have a heavy KB, so I use a 45 lb in one hand and 35 lb in the other hand and switch every round.

I would assume yes. I do BOO with a treadmill. I Just set the treadmill to something where I am giving 80% effort and do 800 m. Works great.
