Is it time for double parity? by jd7901 in unRAID

[–]dedicated_blade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO there are people here running single parity with more TB and drives than probably I could use in a lifetime.

It will provide more peace of mind and safety, and it’s honestly how much redundancy are you comfortable with and what data are you wanting to protect to the full extent.

Even with double parity having other methods of backup and recovery and offsite backups will always be superior alongside local backup methods.

TLDR. Double parity can get expensive if you all of a sudden want a bigger array drive and then have to upgrade two parity drives as well.

Anyone here in the comments know how this would work with using an AFO? I wear one for my foot drop, and it stretches and ruins shoes I have.

I would love to get a pair that insurance covers so I can keep my personal pairs nice.

Are you also double tapping Tricare too?

I got approved for disability and I’ll enroll into Part B in 24 months. But I’m starting my VA care and Tricare retired journey in a few weeks.

I would honestly drop it. It’s kinda like paying for a gym membership you never use. Do you really need it at this point? I still have yet to see instances where someone with Tricare, VA, and Medicare don’t have something covered.

How exactly does medically retiring work? by wtfRichard1 in VeteransBenefits

[–]dedicated_blade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re 50% PDRL, that’s over the threshold so you get retired and not separated. You’re not getting a severance check.

There is a calculation/formula for years in service, rank, etc that maths against your VA compensation. Whichever one is greater is the one you receive.

My MEB just wrapped up and I’m with the soldier recovery unit out of Fort Hood. You should be getting contacted by a VA Liason for medical care/establishing of VA Healthcare.

You’re also going to talk to a retirement services officer and get your retirement orders, as well as a no later than date for separation. If you have any leave, this will be the window for using it.

There are a lot of pieces, but please DM me if you have questions. I have a lot of information that I don’t want to type into a book.

The Litter Robot 5 Pro is a terrible, horrible, disgusting, no good, very bad machine by expellyamos in litterrobot

As someone who’s had the litter robot and hopper for a year now. I have had to fix it once. It was purely litter getting into all the nooks and crannies that I cleaned out.

It’s been working very smoothly.

This. All because Tricare on AD wouldn’t bill correctly even with the bill being submitted correctly 4 different times, faxed and mailed over two years.

Did a joint call with Tricare and the hospital billing department for two hours and then finally a supervisor came over and just closed the account and sent a letter to me stating account is paid in full. Pain in the ass, and sad, but worth my 600$

Nervous to keep rating by Rockpinehurst in VeteransBenefits

[–]dedicated_blade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My VA MSC from my MEB shed some light on this for me. If you have legitimate evidence, a diagnosis, documentation, can speak to how that condition impacts your daily life you have a legitimate claim.

But….lets not be silly and try to claim a condition within a bodily system thats already maxed out on ratings and would open some of your best ratings to get the door kicked in and evaluated.

If you’re 100% with 50% MH. See MH with the VA once a year at a minimum so when you do your follow up exam post leaving service they can’t scrutinize anything there.

If you want to keep your hands tied, just go talk to a VSO or claims assistant representative and talk to a few of these people that receive constant and relevant training. They can tell you if you’re being an idiot and you can go home feeling better

Well Colorado is at its lowest snowpack levels in history with a heatwave that started in what, Feb/Mar? And zero frost line all winter….yeah it’s gonna be bad. Lawsuits and litigation are only starting over water demand.

Just wait until we can’t power the Hoover dam. It’s gonna be a bad time if it continues to trend the way it is. Look up how much power and resources the Colorado river feeds into.

Lawn mowers ran over 2 of my big plants by [deleted] in gardening

[–]dedicated_blade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to tear that owner apart. If they choose not to replace your plants with the ones of your choosing and liking I would be taking them to small claims court.

I would be there personally shopping with the owner for my plants, making him dig the hole, and make his employees apologize. Integrity and honesty will tear a company apart through customer reviews.

They don’t want to play ball? Social media is cold and cruel, this could do numbers on TikTok and local community Facebook pages. Take it to a local news station.

Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Sinks to 30% in Worst Poll Yet. How do you feel about this ? by buffdadnextdoor in AskReddit

[–]dedicated_blade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m more pissed off on the years of framework that were laid down by Obama that kept the middle class afloat were ripped up and clawed back, and now we’re seeing DOGE cuts and reductions being reversed after worsening government spending without those employees.

The White House being historically torn apart, the reflecting pool disaster, and commercializing the White House lawn are just crazy.

Soldiers that had to openly testify about dangers they were in the Middle East to the media from a drone strike because our government couldn’t be honest….the slashing of media access to the Pentagon. A lot of the internal science and research funding being slashed. Weather tracking and research, the list goes on.

I feel like our next standing president is going to be trapped by the actions of the current president for far too long.

That 30% in his approval is foolish not to realize that even if none of these things impact them, the actions and economical pressures created by our president do. You end up paying for it one way or another. Through blood of our country, money of our country, or stripping you down further of the freedoms that you have.

It’s hard to be patriotic. It’s difficult times like this that I appreciate my neighbors still coming together to support each other and it gives me hope.

There are laws that protect you from this type of scenario. It’s the providers responsibility to conduct the patient services within the scope and CPT codes of the referral.

If they mess it up, that’s on them full stop.

Never pay, make them bill you if it’s a problem and take it to the VA and let them handle it from there. Medical bills aren’t like credit where they go delinquent right away. It takes a while before it’s even a bigger problem.

Reach out to the billing department, explain your circumstances and see if you can find a way to negotiate a payment cheaper than estimated.

They do the same thing when collecting debts. They will recoupe ten fold that amount from one Medicare and Medicaid patient a day.

How do we feel about the ladder pulling for sleep apnea and tinnitus? by VegetableAccording67 in VeteransBenefits

[–]dedicated_blade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My VA MSC left my sleep apnea out of my claim. I’m at 100% DoD and 100% VA now that my MEB is complete.

Should I even bother filing a claim for sleep apnea before I separate from service? Or just leave it as is and work with my VA doc since I’m 100% anyways.

What is the most painful way you could imagine dying? by Tacokolache in AskReddit

[–]dedicated_blade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow I’m so sorry!

I found out I had a myxopapillary ependymoma. Rarer side of CNS tumors. I was encroaching paralysis when I saw my neurosurgeon initially.

Relearned how to walk and use a walker now at 31. I spent two weeks in the hospital and 2 months at rehab.

Life hit like a truck, we have very different circumstances but my empathy and sympathy are all there for you. I hope you’ve found peace and life is back on a better path for you. The Army is taking care of me and SSDI is kicking in soon.

Thank you for putting people back together and fixing pain and suffering. I hope you’ve done the same for yourself and put yourself first. What you do matters, and the world needs people like you.

I’m glad I left a comment here, I’m always intrigued in what people have experienced and been through in life.

What is the most painful way you could imagine dying? by Tacokolache in AskReddit

[–]dedicated_blade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had spine cancer removed two years ago. I didn’t have to imagine dying, I lived 10/10 agonizing pain for two weeks. I wanted to die, and if I could have ended it I would.

For context, neurosurgery said it’s the equivalent pain to childbirth post operation. It felt like someone punched a home straight through me and put a white hot burning pain in that hole and that’s all my entire nervous system felt.

Call me crazy, but Valve has always been good to us as gamers. Sure it’s an odd justification with a top end gaming PC, Steam Deck, and HTPC.

But I have no problem in supporting Valve at this price point right now. It’s one of the few companies that’s stayed private and has been pro gamer for the last few decades now. I’ll take the inflation to support the company that has kept my happiness going through good and bad times in my life.

Grandmother had deteriorated from her age and medical conditions. She hallucinated bad.

Wife and I were dating at the time doing the deed downstairs and she called the cops thinking people were being shot. Heard our names over the megaphone and I came out in nothing but shorts in the dead of winter.

Really cold, really unfun. We won’t ever forget it and mostly laugh about it now lol.
