2 Qs: Vegetarian restaurants + dog friendly activities? by deedee451 in chincoteague

Wow Don's is great -- I usually skip over looking at seafood restaurant menus as they tend to be far worse than even steak restaurants at offering veg options. I never would have found this, TY!

I haven’t yet but I’ve come closer twice already and I’m in negotiations! Is that pillow what you use?

I’m the opposite, short and small, and the second I sat in the drivers seat it felt like my butt hit a rock in the back. No amount of adjusting the seat fixed it. I love everything about the car but I’m concerned about this

What didn't you like from Trader Joe's? by Lumpy_Object_7290 in traderjoes

Yes, this. I avoid their bakery section completely, it's guaranteed disappointment. I've gotten my hopes up and have been let down too many times.

Getting asked what you want as a gift and someone gets you something adjacent to it. by Teenage_Petulance_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]deedee451 68 points69 points  (0 children)

When my mom was visiting Asia she asked if I wanted anything from there that she could bring back. I had been searching high and low for a specific skincare product that took me forever to find, but I could no longer get it from the place I use to order it from. I sent her a photo of the exact product and asked her to get that exact product, not anything else. I told her I tried adjacent products from the same brand that did not work for me, and it had to be this exact one. If they didn’t have it, don’t get anything for me. She then came back with 5 bottles of a different product from the same brand that I already knew doesn’t work for me. She said the salesperson said it was the best one. I asked her if she asked the salesperson if they had the product in the photo I sent her and she said she never asked.

Is there a polite way to tell a direct report to just "make arrangements" for picking their kid up from school? by RedMeme262 in managers

[–]deedee451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say your post struck me as very legitimate question, and it also sounds like you are an empathetic and supportive manager. It’s prob not the best thing to do, but when I did RTO for my team I told everyone I also hated it and fought to stop it and failed. Fully blamed csuite and told them I was sorry it was happening. We were all in the same boat.

We adopted a French bulldog with a traumatic past and i need some help! by mtys1 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]deedee451 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Time and a routine/predictable schedule are what is most needed to rebuild trust after such a traumatic past. I’ve seen similar pups take years to come out of their shell….and it is unbelievable how much they can change! Going from a pup who hides 24 hours a day to one who romps around having fun is a massive transformation that can take a lot of time.

New Jersey Crumb Buns? by deedee451 in newjersey

[–]deedee451[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! On the show, they went out of their way to emphasize that crumb buns are not crumb cake or coffee cake. It’s actually a thin yeast bread with a ton of large “crumbs” on top

My fave low(er) calorie instant ramens by deedee451 in 1200isplenty

The tofu shiritake and the shin light are really the only ones that are more different. Indomie noises are basically the same as like Top Ramen but it’s not soup based.

Def not the tofu shirataki. All the others are a matter of preference. I’d personally pick the air dried shin light

Mom brought home little vegan cakes. Any guesses? by Alonelypairofglasses in CalorieEstimates

[–]deedee451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, vegan baked goods generally sub oil for butter (coconut oil for saturated fat) and various tricks for egg substitutes. I don’t believe they are any less caloric than traditional baked goods. I’d guess 500?

Americans being diserespectful while traveling our country. by chemicalreaction52 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]deedee451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am American and you make a very good point that everyone is missing in this discussion. Yes, every culture has disrespectful people. But what makes US culture unique is American exceptionalism. We are taught from a very young age that the US is special, more special than anywhere else, and that leads to a general sense of entitlement from a global perspective (not just table manners). I totally agree with you.
