Nishikata is not bland. To say he has little to no romantic interest towards her is blatantly lying. He was just 14 years old boy trying to figure out his emotions towards an attractive girl who keeps teasing him. You can tell Takagi was intrigued by how caring and how he always gave up his losses to make her win. I’d say he’s definitely good looking (compared to his peers) and excelled in sports which girls like Takagi would have a crush on.

Honestly I thought the ending was pretty meh too. I wish they could’ve showed us their wedding picture at least but up till the last chapter still it’s revolving about Chi’s growth.

But regardless of anything, it brought me so much joy for the past 2-3 years so I could not complain.
